When I delivered my Christmas cookies to one of my friends, I asked her which cookie was her favorite. I had way over-baked and wanted to get her more of the ones she really likes. It was then that she hesitantly let me know that the cookie press cookies with the weird green and red dried-ish cherries were not her favorite. I had to laugh. They are not my favorite either. Don’t get me wrong, they are tasty little buggers, but out of the five different cookies I make, they have strong competition. I know she was being honest with me, and I love that. But I know the truth about those little cookie press cookies. An evil laugh echoed in my head. You can’t fight them. They may not be the tastiest, but they are addictive. Before you know it you have popped 20 of those little buggers in your mouth, and the three sticks of butter in each batch will hit you hard. My friend loves butter. A LOT! She won’t be able to resist them. MWAHAHAHA!! I will bring her more.

Hill 406
by Stan R. Mitchell
4.6 Stars (27 Reviews)
Genre:

FREE for a limited time

It might be a blistering 120 degrees in Helmand Province, but it’s about to get a lot hotter.

In this burning hell of Southern Afghanistan, fate unites two Marines and throws them into the scorching fire of combat; a fight in which they’ll risk everything.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Readers are raving about Hill 406:

“Using the current war in Afghanistan as the setting, Stan Mitchell delivers a story with all the dust, sweat, and conflict of the Afghan war. As a former Marine Infantry Officer, I read these book with a critical eye, but Stan Mitchell is a former Marine Infantryman himself and he gets it right. If you want to feel the sweat of Marines in Afghanistan, you cant do better than Stan Mitchell.”

“When the guy doing the writing is a combat Marine, then you know that it’s going to be a good story. That’s what we get… a quick-paced, action-packed tale that’s bound to have you turning pages or swiping on your Kindle. And if you’re like me, wishing for more when you get to the end. Stan always gets it right, from the weapons and tactics to the constant battle between the grunts and the pogues. Snag this if you haven’t, you won’t be disappointed.”

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

From the Author’s Note: Hill 406 “is enjoyable and fast moving, and also real and harsh; a fast roller coaster on the one hand, while on the other, like coarse sandpaper dragged across your skin. The book should be a lot of fun; a fast read. But it should also seem more tragic and real than a lot of those light military fiction books, where the good guys kick ass and go home unscathed.” — Stan R. Mitchell
