My sweet bees were going a little nuts yesterday when the sun came out for about an hour. I always wondered what they thought about being cooped up in a hive when it is raining or when it is too cold outside for them to come out. Apparently they get a bit of cabin fever. It’s been pretty cold and raining for a week or so, but yesterday afternoon we got a break and the sun was shining. I went to the backyard to do my usual inspection of the garden and almost walk right into a huge cloud of crazy bees. One even smacked me in the face. It was great to see so many ladies flying about and stretching their legs. All I have seen lately is dead bees outside the doorway to their hive. I think it’s just the usual die off, but still pretty sad to see. So when I saw so many healthy happy bees flying around, it certainly lifted my spirits.
