I did something yesterday that I never thought I would do in October. I went Christmas Tree shopping. I dragged the whole family, including my mother in law, to two hardware stores to check out the fake trees. Our current fake tree is losing all of it’s needles and when I bought it ten years ago I was overjoyed to never have to deal with a bunch of needles on my floor again. Now the thing drops them worse than a real tree. Times up tree. You are OUT! I thought it was going to be a simple trip. I want a tree with lights and maybe, if I am feeling like I won the Lotto, I would buy the ones that have the pine cones on it. I didn’t think I would be picky. That is until I got to the store and realized there are ten million different kinds of fake trees. Skinny, fat, 64 function, 51 function, or two function lights…. wait… WHAT? How can there be 64 functions to lights? On or off. Is off one of the functions? I can’t EVEN right now on that one. So of the two stores and 700 tree choices I had. We couldn’t find a tree we liked. With all those choices, we walked out of the store feeling like reasonable people who couldn’t pick a tree that we liked out off 700 to choose from. Seriously..we felt reasonable.

Mysterious attacks. Mischievous nieces. Can a clueless uncle catch a tech-savvy killer… and be home before bedtime?

When a freak accident hospitalizes Marty Golden’s sister and condemns him to babysitter duty, he thinks it’s just another case of hardwired bad luck in Silicon Valley. Until a suspicious murder suggests the mishap was no mere coincidence. Something must be done.

Too bad this quirky, fashion-backward uncle isn’t exactly hero material.

Convinced his sister is in mortal danger, this amateur sleuth follows clues to an oddball array of suspects. Armed with nothing but an eye for detail and powers of self-delusion, Marty tangles with gangsters, a cantankerous school secretary, and a perplexing woman he can’t help but fall for. Glitches in his investigation seem like a piece of cake compared to dinner-prep and bedtime stories with his two precocious, pre-teen nieces.

Can Marty catch the culprit, save his sister, and get his life back in order before he gets unplugged?

Uncle and Ants is the first novel in a refreshingly modern mystery series set in Silicon Valley. If you like clever humor, sassy side characters, and average Joes facing extraordinary circumstances, then you’ll love this twisty mystery.

Out of the white tundra of Alaska’s North Slope, two Inuit hunters emerge on dog sleds carrying a mysterious captive, chained under animal hides and locked in a sapling cage. They deliver their catch to a cargo plane sent out by the Sheriff in Fairbanks. The pilot notices a corpse on the sled — a third musher, killed in the capture, his face mauled with teeth marks that appear more human than animal.

Eighteen-year-old Kris Carlson needs a second chance. Blinded years before in a freak accident following a trophy-winning downhill ski race, Kris is trying to restart her life by learning how to ski again — without eyesight. A new audible-radar technology makes this miracle possible, and its inventor, Fairbanks grad student Josh Marino, hopes Kris will be the one to prove it works.

When the initial trials prove promising, Kris heads off to the mountains for a weekend of skiing with the ski school director and her daughter. But the three women encounter a fierce winter storm and are forced to take refuge in a trapper’s cabin.

Kris soon discovers the trapper’s mauled corpse. It seems a plane has gone down in the storm, and there’s some kind of monstrous beast on the loose…
