I bet right now is the time when we will be seeing a lot of Santa’s elves on vacation around the world. I am sure the cut-off for vacation requests is coming up quick. I live in wine country, so we get a surprising amount of elves vacationing around here. Mostly the spas are booked up and the tasting rooms are pretty crowded. It’s really hard for me not to put in a special request with them when I see them, but I must respect their time off. It will be absolutely crazy for them in a month, so any bit of rest they can get is super important. I really try not to bring up the subject of the holidays when they are around. Hopefully I will score points with them.

The Fall of the House of Usher
by Edgar Allan Poe, Zenith Starlight Media
(956 Reviews)
FREE for a limited time
“During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year… “
Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher is a haunting masterpiece of psychological horror and gothic beauty — a chilling tale that explores the boundaries between sanity and madness, life and death, and the living and the damned.
The story follows an unnamed narrator who visits the crumbling mansion of his childhood friend, Roderick Usher, a man afflicted by strange fears and a mysterious malady. Inside the decaying halls of the Usher estate — where silence, shadows, and dread reign — he witnesses a terrifying unraveling of both the house and the human mind.
Through poetic prose and suffocating atmosphere, Poe crafts one of literature’s most enduring symbols: the House of Usher, at once a physical ruin and a mirror of psychological collapse. The story’s haunting imagery, eerie tension, and deep emotional resonance make it a cornerstone of Gothic fiction and a timeless study of obsession, fear, and mortality.
A masterwork of suspense and symbolism, The Fall of the House of Usher is Poe at his finest — dark, elegant, and unforgettable.
