If you want to sound like a crazy person, just explain your normal daily pet routine with the person who is going to care for them while you are on vacation. I am so happy my neighbors are taking care of both Junebug and Casper while we are gone. They have known both pups since the day we brought them home. Yesterday they came over to get the details for the pup’s care. Explaining that Junebug goes through the doggie door in the morning, but refuses at night sounds weird enough. Then explaining that she does the soft place tour in the morning is too much to ask. She starts out in her bed, then moves to mine, then the crate in the family room, and finally after breakfast the big blanket on the couch. If she does a little front paw stampy dance at you, that means she wants something. Could be anything. Casper will only let you put a leash on him if he is on the blue chair. Sometime the couch, but not often enough to try. He also hates hats on strangers. he also hates strangers. He hates people he knows as well. But he is a very loving dog. The only toy Casper likes is blue dog. Junebug could not care less about blue dog unless Casper has blue dog. Are all dogs this complicated?? I need a nap after this.

A dead trainer. A drugged Thoroughbred. In the high-stakes world of Victorian horse racing, the truth lives under the skin…
Newmarket Heath, 1887. To the public, the fatal gallop of legendary trainer Henry Ashmore was a tragic accident. A horse spooked by a drainage ditch, an aging rider losing his seat. Case closed.
But Henry’s daughter, Nell Ashmore, doesn’t read the public form book; she reads the horse. With a ledger behind her eyes and a unique, ancestral gift for reading an animal’s pulse by touch, Nell examines the four-year-old colt Domine’s Pride. The horse’s pounding heart and dilated pupils tell a terrifying story: her father’s horse was systematically poisoned before he ever put his foot in the iron.
A Deadly Conspiracy in the Betting Ring
Inheriting the honest yard but facing a wall of skepticism from the elite Jockey Club, Nell must manage the stable while hunting a killer. With the help of the methodical Inspector Thomas Kell, she uncovers a brilliant, cold-blooded betting coup running right through her own tack room. Someone has been falsifying work-watch logs and placing dark money across distant rings, keeping a champion horse dark to strike a fortune.
The numbers don’t lie, but the people do. As the Queen’s Golden Jubilee approaches, the field of suspects narrows to those closest to home. To secure her father’s legacy and save her yard, Nell will have to out-handicap a mastermind who has already proven that a human life is a price worth paying to fix the odds.

Dealing in Shadows
by Adir Zagury
FREE for a limited time
There are those born with powers beyond comprehension. Some call them blessings, proof that the gods favor their owners and chose them to rule. Others call them an offense, citing the cost of bearing them as proof of divine punishment.
For Carter, they’re another commodity to trade. Everything has a price, and their price is years and lives. Legal or not, the empire’s laws are barriers to maneuver around, not to heed.
For others, the empire’s many barriers are too great to let stand, and they seek his help, promising him great rewards. But regardless of his plans, everything has a cost too.
Dealing in Shadows is a deep look at what moves people. At what they’re willing to do for what they believe is right. At what they’re willing to do for what they believe they want. At the outcomes no one expects.
If you wish to enjoy a realistic fantasy in a rich world with impossible questions through a compelling story carried by a wide cast of flawed, vivid characters, read this book.
