One long summer. One gorgeous old shop. One second chance at love.
Get ready to be swept away to Darling Island, the sparkling little place perched on the edge of the English coast where the old ferry crosses a glittering sea, sunshine shimmers, and love is most definitely in the air. From contemporary romance author, Polly Babbington comes the loveliest romantic treat to get lost in at any time of the year.
Emmy is all sorts of okay with her life, but that’s about as good as it gets if she’s really honest with herself. One day on a trip to Darling Island in search of the perfect birthday cake, her okay life takes a little turn in a way she most definitely hadn’t seen coming.
As the sun shines and gorgeous old vintage trams rumble past, Emmy finds herself staring at a dilapidated old shop that has seen better days. The building, the setting, and the Darling lifestyle tug at her heartstrings, and on an impulsive whim, she sinks just about everything she has into a completely new way of life.
We follow along, as Emmy not only dips her toe into a whole new world but peels back the layers of her heart, as Darling wraps her up in its charms.

Aurora assumes the old woman simply wants to gossip about the recent murder that occurred in town, in which the two young ladies played a major role in solving. Joy, on the other hand, has spent years offering to ghostwrite Hilda’s memoir, and is hoping to schmooze enough during their time together to finally get the answer she desires.
But the night goes in a very different direction and, just days later, Aurora finds that she’s the one who’s been offered a new job: to clean out Hilda Braithwhite’s estate after her death.
But death isn’t exactly the right word. Aurora thinks murder is more appropriate, and she intends to prove it. But, first, she has to figure out how that little statue of a puppy ties into it all…

Time Capsel
by Jonathan Maas
(372 Reviews)
FREE for a limited time
A note from the editor?
I’m a big fan of Jonathan Maas’s short fiction, but if I had to choose one tale to be my favorite, it would be this one?Time Capsel.
Originally published in the collection Thylacine Dreams, this is a tale of a woman named Capsel who travels through time? not by breaking the speed of light or anything like that?but by entering a stasis pod at regular intervals.
Each entry is a one-way journey, and each time she emerges?she finds that the world is in a very different place.
We don’t know why she is doing this at first, but in vintage Jonathan Maas fashion?Capsel’s true purpose is eventually revealed, and it is quite grand indeed.
