My partner in crime thought it would be a great idea to be more adventurous and try a new thing at the beginning of every month. We would drag our hubbies out to try a new restaurant, see a show, or rock climb. Probably not the rock climbing thing, but you get the idea. She said she wanted to start doing this in September. Not sure why September, but I was fully on board. Having the full Summer to mentally prepare to be adventurous seemed like enough time. I guess it’s September already because she called me yesterday and said she had four tickets to see a Neil Diamond musical this Friday in her cart and we are going. What happened to my months to mentally prepare??!! Breath. YES! I kinda like this being adventurous thing. It’s not my usual mode, but I can get used to this.

“Kiss a stranger.”
Those three words started off a series of events I could have never predicted.
Fresh off graduation, I have my entire summer planned out: European vacation with my cousins, college courses, and picking up shifts at work. But then my mom calls and drops the bomb: she’s getting married to the rumored head of the Irish mafia.
Even though I’ve been looking out for her for most of my life, we haven’t lived together in ten years. So when she invites me to stay with her for the summer, I don’t hesitate. And I make a new summer plan: skip the vacation, take online courses, and dig up dirt on Mom’s new fiancé.
What I didn’t plan for was Wolf Fitzgerald–and his brothers. Dangerously good-looking with tattoos and bad attitudes.
And my new stepbrothers.

The Buddha and the Bee: Biking through America’s Forgotten Roadways on an Accidental Journey of Discovery
by Cory Mortensen
(905 Reviews)
FREE for a limited time
Life-Changing Journey… but this is NOT a typical blah-blah-blah memoir
Planning is for sissies. A solo bike ride across the country will be filled with sunshine, lollipops, rainbows, and 80 degree temps every day, right? Not so much. The Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, an alkaline desert, and the Sierra Nevadas lay miles and days ahead. Disappointment with unrealized potential, and the thirst for what’s next drew farther away in the rotating wide-angle shockproof convex rear-view mirror.
I will ride my bike down a never-ending ribbon of asphalt wearing a backpack.
Cory Mortensen began his bike ride across the United States from Chaska, Minnesota, to Truckee, California, without a route, a timeline, or proper equipment. Along the way, he gained more than technical skills required for a ride that would test every fiber of his physical being and mental toughness. Ride along as he meets “unusual” characters, dangerous animals, and sweet little old ladies with a serious vendetta for strangers in their town.
Humor. Insight. Adventure. Gratitude. Peace.
From long stretches of road ending in a vanishing point at the distant horizon, to stunning vistas, terrifying close calls, grueling conditions, failed equipment, and joyous milestones he stayed the course and gained an appreciation for the beauty of the land, the genius of engineering and marvel of nature.
