I am obsessed with sharks. I hate them, but I can’t get enough of them. I guess I want to know as much as I can about them so that I can avoid being eaten by one. As if they would walk up on land, jump in a car, Google my address, and knock on my door. AVON CALLING! NO! BAD SHARK! So anyway, I have a fun fact for you that very well may be a lie. Did you know that sharks existed before Saturn got its rings? Full disclosure, I get a lot of my knowledge from memes. I could be using the internet for good, but I spend most of my time watching videos of people thrifting and how to avoid getting eaten by sharks. The internet is completely wasted on me. HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Pepper stood up. “How dare you.” She could spit fire at him right now. She’d loved and supported Victory since the day she was born. “You know nothing about me.”

“What’s this?”

Pepper whirled around at that voice. Heart. Breaking. She loved that gruff, commanding voice more than anything else in the world.

He wore a look a lot like Aiden’s. Blank, which she knew — or hoped — had to do with protecting his heart because he still cared for her. Except he probably hated her.

Donaldson sat back in his chair. “Allen.”

Former police officer Allen Frees had both hands on the wheels of his chair. He wore a fire department uniform of slacks and a white shirt. Emblems. A badge. His life of service hadn’t ended when he landed in that chair after a building blew up over his head.

As far as she’d been able to tell, it barely slowed him down.

Fire. Family. Faith.

A wounded hero. A woman in danger. Forced proximity protection and a family they both need… But can he keep them safe?

She’ll give everything to protect her family.

Pepper Miller is a veterinary tech living a peaceful life in Last Chance County. However, when her sister becomes involved in a dangerous drug deal and her niece’s safety is at risk, Pepper will stop at nothing to protect the people she loves… even if it costs her most precious secret.

He always knew she was the one.

Fire Department liaison Allen Frees might be in a wheelchair, but he’s putting his life back together… the only thing missing is the woman he loves. When she needs his help, he’s not going to blow this second chance… No matter the sacrifice.

But when are the sacrifices too high?

A romantic suspense with a found family, a woman in danger, forced proximity, a protector hero and a sacrificial love that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

4.2 Stars (26 Reviews)
Genre: Contemporary Fiction | Friendship | Small Town & Rural

FREE for a limited time

If first impressions determine a relationship, my new neighbor and I should be the worst of enemies.

Not only did my cheating boyfriend threaten to call the police on my new duplex neighbor, Oscar, but I called him by the wrong name when I ran into him later that same day.

After he’d given me the double fudge muffin he’d just bought. The last one at the bakery.

I don’t get close to anyone. Letting people in means letting in their questions, their pity, their concern. I’ve gotten really good at pretending everything is fine, that I’m happy and my life is perfect. No one, not even my very best friend, knows the truth and I’m determined to keep it that way.

But Oscar isn’t easily scared away. And I have an undeniable desire to run my hands through his messy hair and kiss his smiling lips.

He’s the best person I know, and he doesn’t deserve someone as complicated as I am, especially when he moved to Catalpa Creek to uncomplicate his life.

Involves a genuinely good guy, a secret involving mental health, and a rescue dog.
This is the third book in the Catalpa Creek Series, but can be read as a stand-alone. There is no cliffhanger and there is a guaranteed HEA.

Ollie, his romantic partner Dwayne, and Ollie’s two children, Sam and Jodi Lee, have left their old lives behind for a farm outside of Larton, a small & simple farming community, where Ollie takes employment with the local Sheriff’s Department as a deputy and the promise of a new beginning for his family feels within reach.

But as the family tries to settle in to routine, they are met with bigotry, complications with Dwayne’s chronic illness, and the unnerving discovery that a serial killer, nicknamed “The Visitor”, is on the loose, stalking teens in the area.

Against Dwayne’s struggle to gain the children’s approval and balance care for his own health, & Jodi Lee’s immersion into the company of a religious family whose beliefs incite hatred, Morphosis traverses the intricate nature of familial connections and the exhausting pressures that can squeeze them to their breaking point.

Adding to the turmoil, Ollie’s growing obsession to catch “The Visitor” keeps him out of the house for nights on end, leaving his family to unravel without support.

Walden
by Henry David Thoreau
4.6 Stars (2,121 Reviews)
Genre: Politics & Social Sciences | Biographies & Memoirs

FREE for a limited time

Walden first published in 1854 as Walden; or, Life in the Woods) is a book by American transcendentalist writer Henry David Thoreau. The text is a reflection upon the author’s simple living in natural surroundings. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and — to some degree — a manual for self-reliance.

Walden details Thoreau’s experiences over the course of two years, two months, and two days in a cabin he built near Walden Pond amidst woodland owned by his friend and mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson, near Concord, Massachusetts.

Thoreau makes precise scientific observations of nature as well as metaphorical and poetic uses of natural phenomena. He identifies many plants and animals by both their popular and scientific names, records in detail the color and clarity of different bodies of water, precisely dates and describes the freezing and thawing of the pond, and recounts his experiments to measure the depth and shape of the bottom of the supposedly “bottomless” Walden Pond.
