I have bee guilt. I always feel so bad about opening up the bee box, checking on the hive, and basically ruining their day. I look like a giant polar bear that is trying to destroy them. I wreck a few things and then leave. Bee guilt is not a good thing to have as a beekeeper. I almost wish I could feel the same way about bees that I do earwigs. I hate those guys. They look gross, and if you get too close they get fresh with you and pinch. No love there, I can tell you that. Every time I see a dead bee I feel sad and think that she is in a better place now. OH FOR GOSH SAKES! I have got to get over it. I am supposed to open up the hive and check on them again, but I really don’t want to bother them. For all I know a mouse has moved in. I doubt that, but it is important to know what’s going on in there. Today. Today is the day I put my guilt aside and check on the bees. It’s what adults beekeepers do. Time to adult.

Within only a few hours of leaving “The Orphanage,” Thomas hooks up with a 3-foot-tall, fearless, furry companion.
