This week, my oldest basset’s only homework for school was to get some papers signed by me for his woodshop class. Before he even got in the car after school he handed me the papers and told me it was very important that I sign them before Friday. I promised him I would. That night he reminded me again that I must sign the papers. Yes yes.. I will sign them before Friday. Thursday night rolls around. MOM! You still haven’t signed my papers. I once again promised him I would sign them. I had every intention of signing them by the time I dropped him off at school, and I did.  I will admit that I was enjoying him getting frustrated that he had to ask me over and over to do something. A little taste of his own medicine. I’m not gonna lie. It felt good. He won’t remember how frustrating it is to repeat yourself over and over again, but at least I know he felt it once.

Otter:

The compulsion almost always starts with a need.
It quickly becomes a want; a longing that consumes me.
It’s escaped me for so long. Every desperate attempt I’ve made to obtain it has been in vain so far.
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was the day I found it.
Waiting to be bought; waiting for a new owner.
Waiting for me.
It’s taken me a long time and it’s been a hard road, but it’s mine; it always has been and now no one can take it away from me.
No matter how hard they try.

It:
It has waited a long time to finally have an owner.
Years of mistreatment and neglect had it scared that it would never have a home to call its own.
When it was finally packaged for shipment, it was beyond excited.
The dark ride and unkind hands were worth it in the end because it was finally going home.
But was that home all it hoped it would be?
