I heard the scariest “Fact” (I heard it on Facebook, so you know it has to be true). Every time you kill a spider you are killing the dumbest one, because he got caught. So that means the smartest will survive making each new generation of spider smarter than the last. They would be smarter, faster, and more dangerous. I am relieved to say that every time I see a spider in my house, I capture it alive and release it back outside. Nothing but dummies around here!!

When Marco Ribisi resolves to abandon a life of crime, his decision sends shockwaves throughout the shadows and alleyways of Washington D.C. Closing his gambling houses leads to the murder of one of his workers, and the attempted murder of Jelani Jones. To Marco, Jelani isn’t just another worker; he’s his muscle. And, more importantly, he’s like a son. So this means all out war.

The Ribisi family devises a plan that allows Marco to both achieve his goal and fulfill his vendetta. But before the plan is executed, tragedy strikes again. Lies, betrayal, and murder become the order of the day. The other crime bosses won’t allow Marco to simply walk away. And Jelani may be the only one Marco can count on to save him.

In Black Ribisi, author Rasheem Rooke shows how the criminal underworld of Washington, D.C. is more ruthless than any office on K Street or Capitol Hill. Extortion, drugs, prostitution, and illegal gambling serve as its four pillars. And one of those pillars is about to crumble to the ground, dragging the whole system down with it.

One summer. One touch…

Cadence Riley didn’t have time for guys — no matter how potent their smiles were. She knew better than to fall for someone like Fitz Quinn, the spoiled bad boy son of a wealthy politician. But the second he spoke to her, she knew she was in over her head. He was a gorgeous trouble maker with a cocky attitude. Her heart warned her, but she didn’t listen. There was something protective and good beneath the bad boy exterior that made her insides flutter. Before she knew it, she fell hard and fast.

Fitz wasn’t prepared to meet a girl like Cadence. She was shy and innocent — and nothing like the girls who usually flocked his doorstep. How could he resist her mile-long blond hair and emerald eyes? He knew he shouldn’t want her. His father already had other plans for him and a relationship with her could never go beyond the summer. He thought their stolen kisses by the lake were only supposed to be a summer fling. Falling for her shouldn’t have happened. But it did.

Now the clock is counting down until Fitz has to return to the life that awaits him in Washington D.C. As September draws closer, how will they survive the end of everything they’ve come to love?
