I think little Casper needs obedience training. I hadn’t really thought about any sort of dog training because I didn’t really keep up Junebug’s and I think she is just fine. I don’t need her to know how to sit and stay. I need her to know not to bite people, check. She also must know not to eat Sinny’s food until he is done, check. Lastly, she needs to know that my nap time is everyone’s nap time, check check. I get up at 3am, so nap time is very important when I can get it. She knows the routine in the house and she has integrated very well into our family. So why do I feel Casper needs training? Because that little terrier is a bit of a terror. He runs around this house like a nutball, peeing on and biting everything. He also throws temper tantrums whenever he doesn’t get his way. His bark is seriously high pitched. Whales fifty miles away can hear him. I know because they sent me a certified letter requesting I get that little fella to stop torturing them with that noise coming out of his face. How on Earth do you tame a little firecracker? Let’s start with just putting a leash on him. He just got his third set of shots, so now he is ready for the world.

Making Ghosts Dance
by Gregory E. Buford
4.7 Stars (25 Reviews)
Genre: Thrillers

FREE for a limited time

Fans of The Expats will love Making Ghosts Dance.

US Embassy, Cambodia. Junior American diplomat Chris Kelly spends his days behind blast-proof glass interviewing visa applicants — not exactly the glamorous lifestyle he’d had in mind when he joined the State Department. And Cambodia, while not the worst place in the world to pay his dues on window duty, is not exactly Paris. The State Department considers Cambodia an “extreme hardship” post, and millions of its citizens can still recount atrocities of the Khmer Rouge era. But that’s not what gives Kelly nightmares.

Chea Phyrom is the nephew of Cambodia’s prime minister. He’s what the American Embassy calls a classic MRE — morally repugnant elite — and is the undisputed king of Cambodia’s vibrant sex industry. Protected by his uncle, he makes a fortune fulfilling the needs of a multinational flood of sex tourists that grows with every passing year.

Chea’s nemesis is Sochua Nika, the only female general ever in Cambodia’s armed forces. The prime minister found it politically expedient to make her head of his anti-human trafficking unit — with the tacit understanding she was supposed to look the other way. Sochua didn’t get the memo. An ambitious political diva with a political power base of her own, she’s made it her life’s ambition to take Chea Phyrom down.

By night, Kelly secretly volunteers for IRM, an organization that rescues children from sexual slavery. Posing as a foreign tourist, he leaves his bubble of safety for the seedy nightlife of Phnom Penh in search of underage prostitution. When Sochua’s elite anti-trafficking unit, acting on a tip from IRM, raids Chea Phyrom’s flagship brothel, Kelly finds himself at the nexus of a deadly political power game he didn’t bargain for. Chea vows to make an example of everyone involved — and he doesn’t give a damn about diplomatic immunity.

The Keegan Trail
by Kurt James
4.7 Stars (16 Reviews)
Genre: Literature & Fiction | Westerns

FREE for a limited time

More than ten years after fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War, lifelong friends McCall “Mac” Patton and Ron “Sandy” Sands left Clay County, Missouri behind for another life adventure of prospecting for gold in the Colorado Rockies.

Fate and destiny intervened and placed an old enemy Union Redleg Captain John Merna, who with his loyal men still hate anyone that had fought for the defeated Confederacy, in the path of Mac and Sandy near Dighton, Kansas.

After an ambush that left Sandy dead, Captain Merna, thinking that Mac had perished as well, took his men west towards the Colorado Rockies following a map taken off a dead Confederate officer showing the location of the famed “Reynolds Treasure” that had been buried somewhere in the region of South Park, Colorado. Seeking the treasure, Captain Merna and his men also butchered any former Confederate that crossed their trail.

Mac Patton, while seeking revenge for those that had killed his best friend, rescued a young Irish girl named Keegan Doreen O’Rourke and her pup Hugo after her folks had also been murdered by Captain Merna and his men. Mac Patton’s mission had now changed; he had to get Keegan safe to her Aunt Risa in Blackhawk, Colorado before he could resume his trail of justice and retribution against the saber carrying Captain Merna.

Follow Mac, Keegan, and Hugo as they encounter renegade Union Redlegs, hostile Indians, sickness, tornadoes, and high mountain passes as they travel “The Keegan Trail” across the plains of Kansas and Colorado to the far away Rocky Mountains.
