MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE EVERYONE!! I just said that in a Tiny Tim voice. Not sure why, it just came out that way. Hubby is off to work and the baby bassets refuse to get out of bed. Junebug and Sinny wouldn’t let me sleep in. They made it loud and clear that they wanted their breakfast…. ME NOW! Christmas Eve is always the beginning of the end of the holiday season for me, so it’s not my favorite day. Although I do like the fact that our Elf on the Shelf, Sanual, is leaving. No more freaking out at 2am wondering if he made it back from the North Pole and found a new spot to perch on. Any parents out there who are on the fence on whether or not to let an elf into your home, JUST SAY NO! So much stress with those little guys.  I might have not drank so much wine if it weren’t for that little fella. I know he is there to watch the kids, but I had a sneaking suspicion he might have told on me to Santa a few times this month. I could have threatened him with “Snitches get Stitches,” but have you seen his legs? That wouldn’t have been a threat. More like maintenance. Not completely certain, but I will find out tomorrow when I unwrap a lump of coal. LISTEN! IF IT ENTERS MY HOUSE, IT’S MY CANDY. I steal from my baby bassets for their health.

Hudson

With no single females among the bridal party, I expect my best buddy’s wedding to be a bust. Then the beautiful bartender asks me if I could use something stiff.

Trust me, “getting something stiff” is the least of my worries. One touch of Jade’s silky-soft hand, and there’s a zing, just like in the movies. Somehow, I find the magic words that make her mine for the night.

And, just like that, I have the whole world in the palms of my hands. Figures that right when I meet the girl of my dreams, karma drops the other shoe.

Jade
Everything about Hudson — his pale green eyes, his charisma, his body — pulls me toward him. He’s different from the other men I’ve dated. One touch sends heat racing under my skin. And before the night is over, he sends my body up in flames that last well past dawn.

This one-night stand has second date written all over it. Except tomorrow I’m boarding a plane to study abroad. For three years. A fantasy-come-true infatuation like ours can’t last that long.

Can it?

But Katie and her husband can’t have children of their own, so her natural compassion flows. Still, Katie wonders why God gives babies to some women who seem unwilling to care, feed, love, shelter — even hold, and leaves other women barren.

Then one day it happens. A little girl named Bailey walks into Main Street Clinic… walks straight into Katie’s broken heart.

Forced to choose between her husband and her career, Katie fights to hold onto both in order to save Bailey. When her husband gives her the ultimate ultimatum, Katie finds the children of Main Street are not the only ones feeling cast out and lost.
