This is the first year in about five years that I wasn’t somehow majorly involved in my baby basset’s school walk-a-thon. I actually spent all last summer not stressing about lap passes and pledge folders. I gotta say…I LOVE IT! I feel so free. Now that my boys are in 5th and 6th grade I had to hand the torch to a parent who has kids in the younger grades. I thought I would miss it. I thought I would have trouble letting go of control of one of the two major fundraisers in the school. NOPE! I do not miss spending hundreds of hours painting cartoon characters on large pieces of cardboard and completely ignoring my family. Luckily, if for some reason I do get the need to do such things, we have the holidays coming up and I can channel my energy into that. With all this freedom there are so many things I can do with my time. Oh look…. laundry. Hmmph.

Shelter From The Storm: A Hard-Boiled New Orleans Legal Thriller (Tubby Dubonnet Mystery #4) (The Tubby Dubonnet Series)

Genre: Thrillers | Crime Fiction

The FOURTH sly adventure in the Tubby Dubonnet Series, Tony Dunbar’s witty yet hard-boiled foodie-noir mysteries.

WATER WATER EVERYWHERE… ALSO CRIME

To out-of-town kingpin Willie LaRue, Mardi Gras seems the perfect time for a New Orleans heist – nobody, but nobody will be thinking about a single other thing. Parties, parades, chaos, alcohol – who could be concerned about a little thing like a bank job? Indeed, all might have gone well except for an out-of-season frog-flogger that threatens to flood the French Quarter – something even Hurricane Katrina couldn’t do.

Next thing you know the survivors – thieves and revelers alike – find themselves marooned together. As the LaRue gang plans its watery escape, raffish lawyer Tubby Dubonnet is obliged to take time out from his customary eating and loafing to thwart their murderous intentions. The body count rises as the tempest subsides, and Tubby finds himself fighting not only for his life, but (it seems to him) the very city itself.

A wry, compelling tale of The City That Care Forgot.

“By showing the damage that several days of hard rain could cause to the city’s fragile ecosystem, Dunbar makes the reader really care about its fate. He does the same for Tubby, a lazy, corner-cutting, slightly shabby, occasionally reckless but totally decent man.” -Chicago Tribune

Cut from the Same Cloth, A Humorous Traditional Regency, Book Three – My Notorious Aunt

Aunt Honore is up to her old tricks, only now she’s meddling in her mysterious nephew’s life…

Why does the powerfully built, golden-haired, Lord St. Evert dress like an overdone Dandy? His outlandish wardrobe belies the hard unyielding lines of his face. Whoever he is, he’s ruining Elizabeth Hampton’s desperate scheme to secure a rich husband. Terribly vexing, to arrive at the most fashionable Breakfast Party of the Season wearing a perfectly stunning Chinese silk gown, only to discover Lord St. Evert is clad in unmentionables cut from identical cloth.

Humiliating. And insufferable! Why, the devil, must he show up in fabrics Elizabeth searched so diligently to procure? To say nothing of the long hours she spent secretly stitching her creations together. He must be stopped. She is determined to spy out his perplexing game, and put an end to his interference.

Scarlet O’Hara meets the Scarlet Pimpernel

St. Evert despises pretension of any kind. He cannot abide the self-important airs put on by some members of the Ton and takes pleasure in making a mockery of Brummell’s fashion strictures. Conceited frauds! Hadn’t his grandfather’s snobbery made his mother’s life a misery? All the more maddening to discover that the one woman who captures his interest is the biggest pretender of all. He vows to teach Miss Elizabeth Hampton a lesson she won’t soon forget.

AUTHORS NOTE:

I loved reading the Scarlet Pimpernel, and the character of Scarlet O’Hara always intrigued me. What if those two characters were thrust into their own story. Thus was born Cut from the Same Cloth. And as always my work takes a bow to the incomparable Georgette Heyer, and to the mother of romantic comedy, Jane Austen. I hope you will have as much fun reading this romance as I did writing it.

“A pointed, intelligently told story of a family accepting loss gracefully. Such a book on one’s nightstand, particularly if one is in the midst of the grieving process, could offer solace in a way that fiction never could.” – Kirkus Review

“A memoir of hope and serenity, of acceptance that “death is a part of life,” that “learning to live and love is a lifelong process and that our greatest gift is today.” The message is inspirational. Death may interrupt the journey, but it can never stop us from completing it.” IndieReader Review, 5 Star

When Caroline Flohr’s sixteen-year-old twin daughter, Sarah, is killed in an accident involving eight teens taking a mid-night joyride, what’s left behind? And how do you move forward?

An intimate self-examination told through the eyes and heart of Sarah’s mother Caroline, Heaven’s Child is a magical memoir that teaches us how to surrender to our losses and celebrate the gifts of death while rediscovering life. Tackling deep questions and universal misunderstandings, the story draws readers to journey beside Caroline as she opens the domestic scenes of home, heart, family, and community.

Heaven’s Child provides the solace needed to overcome our greatest losses. The story encourages you to find your life’s purpose and helps you realize that you never journey alone.

The book covers sudden loss; death of a child; relationships within a family; funerals and traditions; doubts, faith and hope; marriages, divorces, and parenting; forgiveness and healing; the power of memories and intuition; inner strength, and the resilience of the human spirit. Heaven’s Child shows us that the grieving process is personal, that it’s not just about death but also about any loss in our life; that grieving is not about endings… but about new beginnings.

Action and Adventure collide with hard boiled vigilante justice.

After a night of mindless violence, they locked him in a cage and left him there with the rest of the animals.

But now Roarke is on the outside again. He’s found some semblance of peace as a private investigator. Sometimes he’s hired to solve a problem. Sometimes he’s hired to do something mean. He prefers the one, but he isn’t above the other.

When he’s hired to locate a gorgeous banking executive’s missing niece, Roarke suspects the case might be just another ugly custody fight between the girl’s parents. A single gunshot aimed his way proves him wrong, and convinces him to give the missing girl his undivided attention.

Soon, Roarke finds himself drawn away from his Detroit lair and into the northern wilderness where a group of heavily armed militiamen calling themselves Sovereign North are holding the girl. Lead by a silver-tongued preacher and a remorseless killer called the Last Watchman, the Sovereign are waiting for him.

They think they can bargain with him.
They think he can be reasoned with.
They’re wrong.
