I think I have just been damaged. Badly. I really have to be careful which videos I watch first thing in the morning before my first coffee. I usually love my nature show videos, but this one punched me right in the gut. There should have been a warning. The video starts out with a Barnacle Goose chick taking a leap of faith out of his little nest and plummeting to what I had assumed was water below. He was falling for an incredibly long time. We are talking a looooooong time. The narrator was talking about a perfect decent, how things couldn’t look any better, then SPLAT! The chick hit the rocks hard. Not just once, but about ten times and each time you could hear it squeak in pain. Horrible. It was killing me. When it finally hit bottom and squeaked it’s last squeak, the parents ran to investigate. Of course they put in a very dramatic pause focusing on the sweet faces of the goose parents. Then the little chick shook its head, stood up and waddled off. NO, don’t ever do that to me again.

In this fast-paced, thrilling journey through time, archaeologist David Preston comes into possession of a baseball supposedly signed by the legendary Ty Cobb in 1908, thanks to Ariyl Moro and her mysterious companion, Jon Ludlo. Except the ball tests out to be an impossible paradox. It was signed with a ballpoint pen (not invented until 1938) using ink that’s several centuries older. But then, Ariyl and Ludlo aren’t who they claim to be either.

Ariyl, a voluptuous 6-foot-3 beauty, turns out to be a tourist from a 22nd century paradise where time travel is the latest craze. Unbeknownst to her, however, her traveling companion, Ludlo, is a psychopath whose thefts are starting to alter history. In a world were even small changes in the timeline can cause catastrophic consequences, Ludlo’s actions may completely destroy the future.

To stop Ludlo, David and Ariyl must solve a mystery involving Bronze Age swordsmen, modern-day Nazis, a steampunk world, Albert Einstein, some highly skeptical Founding Fathers, and a Golden Age Hollywood where the murder of a beloved movie star will spell doom for civilization.

Sci-fi meets romantic comedy… with sword-swinging adventure!

D I R T Y M A R T I N I

In Whiskey Sour, Chicago police Lieutenant Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels hunted down a killer dubbed “The Gingerbread Man.”

In Bloody Mary, she busted a psychopath with a penchant for dismemberment.

In Rusty Nail, it was a serial killer with a doozy of a family tree.

And now, in Dirty Martini, Jack faces her toughest adversary yet: a sicko who’s poisoning the city’s food supply. But that’s just the start of what he has planned, because he’s aiming to kill fifty thousand people in the single biggest act of terrorism the US has ever seen. Can she stop him — and decide whether to accept boyfriend Latham’s surprise proposal — without destroying both her reputation and her sanity?

Join Jack, her partner Herb, and her nemesis Harry McGlade, for her fourth, and greatest, case so far.

F U Z Z Y N A V E L

Things are going well for Lieutenant Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels of the Chicago Police Department. She has solved some of the city’s toughest and most high-profile homicides. Her personal life is finally in order. Her friends and family are safe and happy. And she just got a call that eased her mind like nothing else could: Alex Kork, one of the most dangerous criminals Jack ever arrested, killed herself while in jail.

But things sour quickly when a group of vigilantes on a murderous spree decide to take down a cop and the people she cares about… and they turn downright awful when Jack discovers that Kork may not be dead after all.

Trapped in her house with a psycho and everyone she cares about, and unable to leave because she’s surrounded by snipers, the next eight hours will be the worst of Jack’s life. And that’s saying something.

Fuzzy Navel is Jack’s fifth adventure, perfect for readers who like their mysteries with a shot of humor.

C H E R R Y B O M B

At the end of Fuzzy Navel, J. A. Konrath surprised readers with an agonizing cliffhanger: One of Lieutenant Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels’s loved ones is dead. But who? Readers were left clamoring to know more.

Cherry Bomb, the sixth Jack Daniels mystery, opens at the funeral. While Jack stands graveside, tears in her eyes, her cell phone rings. It’s the killer, escaped maniac Alex Kork, taunting Jack, drawing her ever further into a twisted game of cat and mouse. Because while Alex is more than willing to kill random victims, Jack is her true prey. But which woman wants revenge more?

Cherry Bomb is J. A. Konrath’s most gripping novel of suspense yet–filled with twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

The Darling Songbirds (The Songbirds of Darling Bay Book 1)
by Rachael Herron
4.3 Stars (73 Reviews)
Genre: Romance

FREE for a limited time

Rachael Herron seamlessly blends romance, friendship, and laughter. Barbara Bretton, USA Today Bestselling Author

From international bestseller Rachael Herron, comes a book too delightful to put down:

The saloon had always looked old-fashioned, but now it resembled a set in a ghost town. The problem was that Adele wasn’t in an old western, or a ghost town. Darling Bay was the sleepy gold-rush town her great-grandfather had given his name to.

The town she’d left for good a long time ago.

The building is a ruin, the business is broke and customers are scarce. Add into the mix Nate Houston – the handsome, guitar-playing bartender who had always believed he would be the next owner – and Adele has one potent cocktail on her hands.

Can a rundown saloon in a sleepy town finally offer Adele a way into love?

Relationships are at the heart of women’s fiction, and Herron could teach a master class on creating them. Chicklit Central
