Unfortunately my cookie baking palooza is not going as I had planned. I went to the store and got all the ingredients..BOOM. I got all the ingredients in the house and on the counter..BOOM BOOM. It all goes downhill from here. This is where I am failing. I need lots of counter space for all this baking so I had to clean the dishes first. I went around the house to see if there were any stray cups and noticed the house was a bit of a wreck, so I started to tidy up a bit. Right now I have torn apart my youngest basset’s room to clean under his bed because there were too many dust bunnies. Random toys, found socks, and party favors from two years ago are now scattered all over the floor while I vacuum behind his bed. By the looks of it I have just committed to about two hours minimum of cleaning. Side note… there were no dirty dishes or cups in his room.

In 1994 entrepreneur and award-winning businessman Bernard Horton decided to give up the rat race and all the trappings of wealth in order to follow his heart and live among the Bushman people of Botswana’s western Kalahari.

He bought and converted an ex-military Land Rover 101″ Forward Control (known to the Bushmen as Ibope from the distinctive sound of the V8 engine), and set about driving all the way from Durban in South Africa to Maun, Botswana – still a dusty frontier town in those days.

My Forever Heartache is the fascinating story of Bernard’s four-year adventure which saw him become one with these gentle and inspirational people, who still live in harmony with mother nature as they have done for thousands of years.

For most, December is a month marked by celebration and joy. For Tara Sellers Willoughby, December has always meant dread and grief. From outside of her elite, small-town Georgia circle, it would seem that Tara lives in an exquisitely-packaged world. She has a beautiful body, a handsome and affluent husband, a successful career, and the largest house in the wealthiest neighborhood east of the Chattahoochee River. Inside, however, Tara is profoundly paralyzed by denial and struggles to reconcile conflict from past Decembers.

Although a decade has passed since Tara’s parents were killed, she is still haunted by their tragic death. In an attempt to understand her grief and honor her beloved father’s memory, she pours herself into her work as a bereavement counselor and Alzheimer’s advocate. Tara ventures to Chicago to attend a conference to learn about art therapy for people with dementia.

When a remarkable young stranger saves her from a looming Chicago rainstorm, Tara doesn’t know that she will also need saving from the imminent collision of infidelity, deception, and decades-old secrets she unwittingly discovers hidden inside an illusive box.

No matter how devastating the Decembers of her journey have been, Tara refuses to quit pushing forward, drawing from within an unexplainable tenacity for picking up the pieces and making the most of the month’s wreckage.
