So I’m just sitting (not on the couch this time), eating a blueberry muffin, and I got a brilliant idea about my issue with finding a table for the guinea pig cage. Right now they are on the floor, and it’s just too low and I need a bit of storage for their food and supplies. Then it hit me! My hubby can make a table. BRILLIANT! I don’t know how, or what it should look like, but I am going to give him the task and ask him to make it happen. It was like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. There are still a few blueberry muffins left. I am going to use their power again to come up with more ideas.

Genre: Action & Adventure | War

Weary of violent missions, Gage Hartline is tempted by a basic job on a family-owned island off the coast of Honduras. All he has to do is whip the family’s small security force into shape. The pay is good. The work is simple. What could possibly go wrong?

The job interview, for a start.

After a fiery personality clash with his potential boss, Gage declines the job. But before he can leave the island, he makes a revolting discovery.

Things go bad… very quickly.

In a matter of minutes, Gage finds himself marooned on the island, defending himself against a security force of 40 men. There are precious few allies on the island, and miles of ocean all around. Gage must use every trick he’s ever learned to survive — but even Gage has a limit. He can only hold out so long.

Combining crime, suspense, thrills and romance — with an indulgent helping of highly-flawed Driskell characters — Menace is a thriller that delivers on action and keeps readers guessing all the way until the explosive climax.

Hattie’s Place
by Katherine Stillerman
5.0 Stars (9 Reviews)
Genre: Contemporary Fiction | Historical Fiction

FREE for a limited time

A letter from Will Kendrick breaks Hattie Robinson’s heart one week before her 1907 graduation from Greenville Female College. He’s ended their engagement, making mysterious references to events preventing him from committing to their relationship.

Alone and confused by Will’s cryptic letter, Hattie takes a position as an elementary school teacher in Calhoun, South Carolina, and tries to put her life back together. She moves in with prominent attorney Charles Barton, his wife Elizabeth, and their four sons.

Hattie’s attempts to start a new life are continually interrupted. A visit from Will shakes her to her core, while a tragedy in the Barton family throws her new home into turmoil.

Work offers little solace. With no legislation regulating child labor laws, South Carolina provides little help for teachers concerned with their charges’ welfare. But when an abusive father forces his ten-year-old daughter to quit school and take a back-breaking job at the local textile mill, Hattie knows she has to act, even if doing so puts her job at risk.

A tale of one woman’s determination to overcome the restraints of South Carolina society in the 1900s, Hattie’s’ Place tears at the heartstrings even as it inspires.
