Strange Magic: A Yancy Lazarus Novel (Pilot Episode)
by James Hunter
4.2 Stars (321 Reviews)
Genre: Action & Adventure | Fantasy | Horror

FREE for a limited time

Yancy Lazarus is having a bad day: there’s a bullet lodged in his butt cheek, his face looks like the site of a demolition derby, and he’s been saran-wrapped to a banquet table. He never should have answered the phone. Stupid bleeding heart — helping others in his circles is a good way to get dead.

Just ask the gang members ripped to pieces by some kind of demonic nightmare in LA. As a favor to a friend, Yancy agrees to take a little looksee into the massacre and boom, he’s stuck in a turf war between two rival gangs, which both think he’s pinch-hitting for the other side. Oh, and there’s also a secretive dark mage with some mean ol’ magical chops and a small army of hyena-faced, body-snatching baddies. It might be time to seriously reconsider some of his life choices.

Yancy is a bluesman, a rambler, a gambler, but not much more. Sure, he can do a little magic — maybe even more than just a little magic — but he knows enough to keep his head down and stay clear of freaky-deaky hoodoo like this business in LA. Somehow though, he’s been set up to take a real bad fall — the kind of very permanent fall that leaves a guy with a toe tag. Unless, of course, he can find out who is responsible for the gangland murders, make peace in the midst of the gang feud, and take out said dark mage before he hexes Yancy into an early retirement. Easy right? Stupid. Bleeding. Heart.

Warrior Woman: A Christian Novel
by Summer Lee
3.5 Stars (8 Reviews)
Genre: Religious & Inspirational Fiction | Religion & Spirituality | Historical Fiction

FREE for a limited time

Four thousand years ago, as the Israelites drove the Canaanites from the Promised Land, they met more than human resistance. They encountered evil giants which had been born from the unholy unions of fallen angels and human women.

In WARRIOR WOMAN, acclaimed Christian author Summer Lee unfurls a standalone adventure romance that expands Biblical history into a fantasy of epic proportions. Achsah, a young woman, is assigned the divine mission of saving her people from the most evil giant of all.

When the adventure begins, Achsah is chosen as official lookout for all of Israel. Her job is to alert her father, a military chief, when she sees the enemy coming. Between hunting for giants, visions from God, and saving people, Achsah is romantically pursued by two soldiers. The older man is a distant cousin — he’s a widower with a young daughter who pulls at Achsah’s heartstrings. The other man is young and handsome, but his humble birth and lack of station in Jewish society mean he is not prime marriage material for the daughter of a war chief. Only her father has the power to choose her husband and neither of Achsah’s suitors measure up.

When the vile giant poses an imminent threat, not just to everyone she loves, but to the entire fate of the Israelites, Achsah knows she must be obedient to God and slay the giant.

Achsah is an unsung, anointed heroine who is filled with God’s strength and goodness, which will help her fight for the most precious treasure of all: the claim to the Promised Land.

WARRIOR WOMAN contains spiritual quests, danger, clean romance, betrayal, and redemption, with all of the excitement that readers have come to love from the remarkable pen of Christian author Summer Lee.

Something is devouring Earth…
A suburban house in Oklahoma vanishes into a roaring abyss. A supertanker at sea suffers a fiery destruction. A blast in China drills a gigantic cavern into a mountainside. A severed arm plummets from the sky in Missouri.

Could these catastrophes possibly be related? Intrepid geologist Dacey Livingstone is nearly killed by her first attempt to plumb the mystery — a perilous descent into a house-swallowing sinkhole. Still determined, she joins with eccentric physicist Gerald Meier in a quest that takes them from the ocean’s depths to interstellar space.

What are these exotic “wormholes” that threaten Earth? Can their secrets be discovered, their power even harnessed? Or will they spawn a celestial monster that will annihilate the planet?

Brilliantly original, Wormholes reflects Albert Einstein’s famous assertion that “Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.”

Veteran science writer Dennis Meredith has crafted this cosmic adventure drawing on his decades of experience working at leading research universities such as Caltech, MIT, Cornell and Duke.
