While my partner in crime’s family and mine were at the lake last week, we spent a good amount of time saving sweet little bees from drowning. Temperatures reached about 106 degrees, and those sweet bees were desperately looking for water. While floating around in the lake enjoying a cool beverage, we would rescue a bee trapped on the lake’s surface and let them dry off and recover on our floaty. It is an amazing thing to watch a bee dry itself off and prepare for flight. Floating on the water, watching a bee do it’s thing, is mesmerizing and very relaxing. There is also a certain thrill you get when you see it test it’s wings out to make sure everything was working properly, and then watch it buzz away to do it’s bee thing. I will be honest with you. The wasps I saw floating around did not get the same treatment. I am still mad at them for biting my baby basset a few years back. Sorry wasps, but you guys were kinda being a jerk.
