I took my youngest baby basset to a birthday party yesterday and I don’t have to tell you what my favorite part was. Cake! That spongy square of happiness that makes my soul sing “It’s A Wonderful Day In The Neighborhood,” by Mr. Rogers. I just about took the poor host’s finger off when she offered me a piece and I dove right in. As I was happily humming a tune and chewing along to the beat, I looked up to find I was the only adult eating cake. For a moment there I was also the only adult with a smile on my face. They all seemed to be staring at my plate with a sad look on their face. What’s the point of being an adult if you can’t eat cake whenever you want? Nom Nom Nom.
