I am starting a new blog in addition to Book Basset, about the beekeeping adventures of my partner in crime and I. I am very curious to see how this will work, since it will be written by both of us. I have had Book Basset all to myself and while a few people see this, it has always been a very personal thing. I often imagine I am talking to all of you while you are here with me sitting on that big ugly couch. Seriously! Look at it. Can we all agree it’s just too much? Anywho… I am very excited. The beekeeping class starts this Wednesday, and Spring is just around the corner. Our bees are just over the hill waiting for us. Soon…very soon.

Act first. Think never. Remember nothing. Welcome to Kelly Rockport’s existence at Haysville University, where responsibility is just an elective. After all, fake IDs, alter egos, and one-night stands are all part of the college experience, right? So what if she blacks out from time to time? Memory is overrated. When freshman year lasts about as long as a one-night stand and is quickly followed by the Year of the Blackout, Kelly projects junior year to be nothing shy of amazing. But as shots, beer, cocaine and men mesh together in an intoxicating haze, Kelly’s reckless ways get her into serious trouble. The only problem is, she can’t remember what happened. As she hovers along the edge of consciousness, Kelly forces herself to think past her pain to piece together the shards of her life. This is her story, told in her words: The Parts I Remember.

In the first novella in The Fay Morgan Chronicles, after centuries of wreaking chaos on the world, Morgan le Fay now lives a mundane life in Seattle. She tends to her Wiccan shop, keeps an eye out on the city’s supernatural denizens, and tries not to care that so many of her memories are faded and tattered. Just a fact of immortality, she thinks, along with the endless and steady boredom of life. But then two men stumble through her door. The first is a werewolf. The second? He seems familiar, though she has no memories of him. Soon Morgan is dragged into a mystery surrounding a lost amulet, trolls, and a mysterious witch hell-bent on revenge who doesn’t care if she hurts Morgan or any of her friends. As if that weren’t bad enough, the man she has no memories of is completely charming but seems incapable of telling the truth about anything.

The Magician’s Mistake is part of an urban fantasy series. Fans of The Dresden Files and The Lily Harper Series should enjoy this series.

Genre: Literary Fiction

FREE for a limited time

A middle-aged Englishman, whose father committed suicide when the man was thirteen years old, comes across some letters his father had sent from the trenches of World War One. Certain words and phrases in these letters reveal a side of his father he had never suspected when he was growing up. This sends him on a quest to find out more about his father’s life. As he digs deeper and deeper into his family’s past, he uncovers a world he realizes he had never understood, could never even have imagined. Just beneath the surface of the apparently quiet, civilized, well-bred world of the family he had known as a child, there was a completely different reality, a parallel universe of suppressed loves and hates, sexual deviations and appallingly violent actions, involving not only his parents and grandparents and the rest of his family, but also himself.
