I know it seems a bit cliche, but I do like the idea of a new year and a fresh start. I’m not going to lie to myself and say that I am going to eat right and exercise and be the best I can be. Blegh! Plus I feel awful this morning. I have a carrot cake hangover that would knock a horse off his feet. Not to mention yesterday I let my ego get the best of me and I over did it in the gym. The football guy wasn’t there, so that was a relief. I didn’t practice my conversational skills at all and it felt like the test that was scheduled that day was canceled. I wanted to end the year out with a bang so I did way more than I should have and I am paying the price for it this morning. That could be why I am reluctant to be a better person this year. It’s just too painful.

Life on Windmill Farm hasn’t been the same since Julia Lapp’s father has had trouble with his heart. But that doesn’t stop Julia from hoping for a bright future. She has planned on marrying Paul Fisher since she was a girl. Now twenty-one, she looks forward to their wedding with giddy anticipation. But when Paul tells her he wants to postpone the wedding–again–she is determined to change his mind. She knows who is to blame for Paul’s sudden reluctance to wed: the Bee Man. A mysterious man who relishes his nomadic life, Roman especially enjoys bringing his bees to Stoney Ridge each year. But with Julia seriously at odds with him, Windmill Farm is looking decidedly less appealing. Can Julia secure the future she’s always dreamed of? Or does God have something else in mind?
