I am a little thrown off right now at my lack of responsibilities outside of work and home. I have no class parties to plan, no decorations to make, not a single thing to prepare for. Christmas has always been the most popular holiday, but I am thinking that Thanksgiving is severely underrated and unappreciated. We are having Thanksgiving at our house as we have done every year for the last five or six years, and everyone brings a dish. The only thing we really have to do is have a clean-ish house and a delicious turkey. Heck! If you just shut the door on the kids bedrooms, that’s half the cleaning job done right there. This year we are going to try cooking the turkey on a rotisserie, and to be sure it turns out perfect we are going to do a test run. What a delicious adventure!

Love. Death. Food. Paris. Betrayal. Adventure. Escape. Nothing is what it seems in this highly praised debut novel about a young woman who sneaks away to Paris without telling anyone. Not even her husband. Once there she’s robbed, stalked, arrested, kidnapped (almost) and–worse–finds that her numerous problems have come right along with her. Grab a croissant and settle in for a decidedly non-touristy trip to the City of Light. P.S. This novel is great for book groups.
