I just can’t settle down right now. Everything is set and ready for the family to come over. House is clean, table set, and I already cooked my favorite dishes yesterday, so they only need to be warmed up closer to dinner time. Now I wait. Ugh. I want to eat something, but I need to be in peak condition for the big meal. I even have my very unflattering stretchy pants on. I don’t want to get full on the regular everyday food. Waiting waiting..erg…waiting.

Dingus Xavier has the worst luck ever. As if just being named “Dingus” weren’t enough, he’s the red-headed son of an elven mother and a human father. He might also be a berserker — and those are just the things he knows about. Sir Vandis Vail has always been too busy serving his goddess to consider training a Squire, but when he comes across a lynch mob attacking a young man, he can’t let it stand. In obedience to his divine Lady, he takes the boy into the Order of the Knights of the Air as a Squire. Dingus Xavier, though, is far more than he bargained for: a gifted ranger, but deeply damaged by a life of abuse. Vandis doesn’t know how to begin to help Dingus face his pain, and he can’t handle his own paternal instincts, either. When a rival religious order targets the Knights for extinction, it could be the straw that breaks Vandis’s back.

Genre: Holidays | Humor & Entertainment

Warning: This is not a children’s book. Exposure to children under 12-years old may cause child to stop believing in Santa Claus or take a cynical view of Christmas. What would happen if Santa decided to go public and sell shares of Christmas on the NASDAQ? The Wall Street Journal called it “the biggest IPO (Initial Public Offering) since Facebook.” But, with the influx of capital comes a host of problems. Now Christmas Inc. comes under public scrutiny. Santa must report to the stockholders and stockholders want to see a profit. When the economy collapses and Christmas Inc. is in danger of bankruptcy, the Government deems Christmas Inc. “too big to fail.” Santa must accept a government bailout. With the bailout comes increased regulation. So how does Santa solve his problems? He does what every other major CEO does: cut costs. First, he hires illegal burros from Mexico to pull his sleigh. Then he outsources toy making to China and his IT services to India. This throws thousands of elves out of work. Most leave the North Pole to find work elsewhere. Christmas Inc. follows the lives of three elves caught in the turmoil. Henry moves his family to New York to pursue the American Dream. As illegal immigrants, they try to make a life for themselves in mainstream America. Duncan gathers a group of friends around him, forms a co-op, rents a closed down workshop at the North Pole and starts a toy company to compete with Christmas Inc. Always the rebel, Alstair starts the Occupy North Pole movement. Sit-ins, political rallies, protests and speeches quickly spread around the world. Before you know it there are Occupy Wall Street, Occupy Paris and Occupy San Francisco movements. Add in a James Bond-style super villain, Hu U, a general in the Peoples’ Liberation Army of China. Santa outsources his toy making to Joy International, a company under General Hu’s control. Unbeknownst to Santa, Hu’s goal is nothing less than total world domination (of Christmas). Hu’s factories start shipping toys covered with lead based paint, containing melamine, small parts that can choke a child and faulty welds. Can Santa save Christmas and return us to our cherished values? Christmas Inc. is a rollicking, politically incorrect satire on the state of our society.

Genre: Children’s eBooks | Teen & Young Adult | Mythology & Folk Tales | Fantasy

Most teens hate school, but thirteen-year-old Faye has good reason to: Her teacher is trying to kill her. Swallowing her fears, she marches past the scattered bones of unsuccessful students and battles through a maze of deadly spells. Faye survives, only to be greeted by fireballs and curses from Stonereader, her instructor. So much for becoming teacher’s pet. Such is the life of a half-breed, ostracized by both human and Fey society. When her magical team assembles to help her, they are not what Faye expects: a talking rock, a dog with unusual skills, and a sword that continually attacks the most handsome prince she’s ever seen. Awkward! With only a band of misfits to save her from the teacher who’s determined to destroy her, she should give up, as Stonereader wants. But Faye has a dream worth dying for: to bring a lasting peace between humans and Fey. THE HEARTLESS FEY is a young adult fantasy about the power of impossible dreams.
