It would seem that this year my theme for Halloween is black. Armed with a gallon of black paint I bought for cheap, and two never ending spay cans of matte black paint, I just can go wrong. I am just about finished with my witches house for the front yard. Just a bit of white outlining so you can actually see it at night and My poor witch will finally have a home. My goal is to have all the decorating done in the next two days so I can finally sit back, relax and actually enjoy the holiday and the festivities. One item that has been weighing on my head is how to create a Lego head for my youngest basset for his Lego man costume. The kids can’t wear masks at school for the Halloween parade, but they can wear hats. I could always just make him wear the mask and tell him to run like the wind and not let them catch him during the parade. Sure he might get a nasty note home, but I’m an adult…I can let him get away with it. Parent of the year award!

The story Dan Tracy has left school to become home educated by his dad, after some unspecified and mysterious ‘difficulties’ at school. When the family wins a rather unusual holiday competition, they set off on what begins as a regular family holiday. But on a day trip to a disused Cold War bunker, the family gets caught up in life threatening events which have cast a sudden and terrible darkness over the surface of the planet, putting all known life to sleep and causing havoc in its wake. Dan’s family are separated in the panic that follows. 24 hours after the darkness descends, the bunker undergoes a massive transformation and it emerges that the dusty old Cold War bunker is actually a state of the art operations centre which has been hiding in open view for many decades  but its modern day purpose is unclear. Trapped inside the bunker as deadly events unfold beyond its heavy doors, it soon emerges that those caught inside were gathered there at a specific time by an unknown organization. Dan realizes that he and his family are part of something bigger than they could ever have imagined and the world is in perilous danger from a malevolent organization based on earth, with hints of extraterrestrial connections. As the story moves to its climax, Dan makes an incredible discovery which could threaten the very existence of life on Earth   and finds that the key to human survival lies in his own genes and those of his twin, who died in a tragic road accident several years earlier. Separated from his family as the entire planet becomes surrounded by a deathly blackness, Dan Tracy must figure out what’s going on below ground. The bunker is at the centre of a conspiracy to destroy the Earth – but there’s something special about Dan and his twin that could stop the terrorists dead in their tracks. It’s a race against time as the process of destruction has already begun… Who will be left to hear Earth’s final screams?

A character-driven portrayal of the 1968 Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia, brought to life through the conflict between an intriguingly cultured, yet conniving KGB colonel and the people of a small village who courageously (and sometimes timidly) try to resist oppression. Midnight, August 20, 1968: the sirens of Prague are sounding. Without warning, Russian tanks have crossed the frontier and are pouring into the city. The Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia has begun. Arriving with the troops is Colonel Grigori Dal, a seasoned KGB officer and coldblooded killer. While the country slips into chaos, Dal uses the fighting as cover to apprehend an American Prisoner of War from a military prison in Prague. Within days, only a cursed woman and a troubled war hero will stand between him and protecting the Cold War’s darkest secret: proof U.S. servicemen were secretly transferred to the Soviet Union. R. Cyril West’s unforgettable novel of tragic love, suspense, intrigue, and the dangerous machinations of the human heart.
