I have been running once a week with my partner in crime to get ready for Tough Mudder. Yesterday we tried a new place that was flat and I am pretty sure was about fifty miles (actually only a little over 2) It was the most painful thing I had done in a long time, and I spent most of the time grunting and panting and feeling just about as miserable as possible. I know we are working hard when the chit chat stops and all you hear is heavy breathing and grunts. I just keep waiting for it to get easier and enjoyable, but that just hasn’t happened yet. The crazy thing about it is after Tough Mudder I still want to do it.  That’s a whole other crazy right there.

Until the day he found a mysterious woman sitting right in the middle of his latest crime scene. While he searches for a rational explanation, all signs indicate she materialized out of thin air.

27 MILLION: A THRILLER

Following his award winning first novel, “Hawk,” Brian Neary delivers “Twenty Seven Million,” the second in the series – a brain teasing thriller featuring CIA agent Quentin Hawk, the former pro athlete with the Mensa IQ.

When a team of hit men pulls off a stunning kidnap in Los Angeles, a graffiti-styled ransom note is delivered to the Pope’s personal mailbox in Rome. 5000 miles away, Agent Hawk is hoisting his fourth pint of Guinness in a Dublin pub – on the verge of teaching a local bully a lesson in Muay Thai dirty-fighting – when he gets the call from his boss. The Vatican has called in the CIA.

On the Agency’s Gulfstream jet, concealing the blood on his knuckles, Hawk reviews the sparse particulars of the case, only mildly distracted by the long legged, hazel eyed stewardess who pours his Tullamore Malt.

The Vatican insists that the investigation be kept secret from the Italian police and away from all media. But once Hawk arrives in Europe to begin his investigation, three attempts are made on his life and the ransom fee is tripled. When the kidnappers stop communicating Hawk and his team are fired by the Pope’s secretary.

Could a black ops plot have originated within the Vatican walls? Once the question is posed, the forces of evil intervene, the twists and turns multiply, the action doubles and what began as a thrill packed adventure becomes a challenging, whodunit mystery.

Having been officially removed from the case – unrelenting, belligerent as ever – Hawk ignores the “pussies” at Langley and persists. He’s left with only two leads… an on-line master criminal with an ever changing IP address and two women ready to give their lives to protect him. The conclusion is a stunner.
