SCARED

A one-room, two-man psychological thriller, as a fear consultant “entertains” a new client.

LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO HAPPEN

Étienne Brûlé has become legend. He is the first of the coureurs du bois (‘runners of the woods’), the 17th century French explorers of wild Canada. Now, he faces death among the Bear tribe of the Huron Indians, and debates his life’s value with a French priest.

These stories are part of a series of Short Fiction Based on Themes from the Music of the Tragically Hip. Their music always seems to put stories in my imagination, even when the lyrics don’t tell one directly. I’ve tried to take the feelings and contours of the songs from one medium to another. The stories stand on their own – you don’t need to know the music. But they do set a nice atmosphere.

Genre: Action & Adventure | Literary Fiction | Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

For those that escaped the Flood, the nightmare is just beginning.

For three years, Travis Cooke dreamed of reuniting his family, but not like this. When the Flood hit, America’s East Coast was evacuated by every means possible, by air, land and sea.

Hours later, a cruise ship assisting in the rescue lies dead in the water: no power, no communications, and nowhere near enough food. Travis, along with his ex-wife, young son, and thousands of refugees on board the Festival of the Waves find themselves alone in a big ocean.

With no rescue in sight, the veneer of civilization drips away. Travis finds behind each door a new side to the Festival, but no way out. How far will a good man go to save the people he loves? How far would YOU go?

You’ll remember where you were when the Flood hit.
