I think I have become a dance mom. My youngest basset has taken up Tae Kwon Do, or I should say WE have taken up Tae Kwon Do. I sit in ever class and watch his every move. We practice at home and watch all the videos the teacher has made. We practice out front before class has begun, and you can see me during class moving my arms around to every move he does. Yes..I’m nuts. There is a new deli in the shopping center, I will be over there until class is over.

“Did she really just say that? I am fifteen again, except the reality is I am experiencing full parental horror, aged twenty-five. I want to die.”

Life hasn’t quite worked out how Arielle Lockley imagined it would. Becoming the next Coco Chanel was always her childhood dream, but she’s spent the past four years living a dizzying whirl of glitzy parties, luxurious holidays and daily shopping sprees – all paid for by boyfriend Piers – and not doing anything to make her Coco dreams happen.

When the recession hits, it’s not just the economy that takes a tumble and Arielle finds herself living back with her parents, on bad terms with Piers, and having a CV that’s as welcome as a pair of knock-off Jimmy Choos. And maybe it’s the location, but she’s also finding unwelcome thoughts of her childhood sweetheart are popping into her head…

What’s a girl to do? Can Arielle figure out what it is she now wants to do with her life and move on, or will she be doomed to spend the rest of her life dwelling over her worst mistakes, stuck listening to her parents’ embarrassing dinner table talk each night?

A delightful romantic comedy, Kept is a funny chick lit book, loved by Shopaholic and Bridget Jones devotees. New adult fans will love this coming of age series.

Henry Simpson
4.5 Stars (15 Reviews)
Genre: Humor & Entertainment | Humor & Satire | Fantasy

FREE for a limited time

Here are five short stories by an author who usually writes crime fiction. Though inspired by personal experiences, they are fiction, filled with lies, and unlikely tales (mostly). All are intended to be humorous or satirical.

In The Savage Hogs, Eli is a misbegotten, gentle young man often mistreated by others. He eventually finds fulfillment in The Savage Hogs, an outlaw motorcycle club. There he meets a girlfriend, Lulu, and participates in wholesome club activities such as road trips to little towns for weekends in bars, brawling with rivals, and terrorizing citizens.

In Einsteins, George panics when the Department of Motor Vehicles rescinds his PhD, thus threatening his college teaching career. He agrees to participate in a six-week program to reinstate his degree, and soon finds himself on a bus with other defrocked academics headed into the unknown. Guess what happens next.

In TurboCognition, two young engineers, an intuitive reader, and a tyrannical neuroscientist develop a gizmo called HB2P to enhance human cognition. An amorous relationship between one engineer and the intuitive reader complicates matters.

In Close Encounters, the Uranian spaceship does not make first contact on schedule. A skeptical reporter named Danny investigates, finds evidence of UFO fakery, and has a close personal encounter with a ditzy chick named Koko. Koko disappears, apparently abducted by aliens. When another spaceship landing is predicted, Danny rushes to the scene.

In Pink Flamingos, Fred falls in love with Wolves after seeing movies and TV documentaries depicting their beauty, nobility, and complex social behavior. He brings a three-quarter wolf hybrid into his home, and complications ensue, one involving pink flamingos.
