It took me about three months, but I can finally hear the name Candyland without breaking into a cold sweat. I spent 5 months of my life working on the school walk-a-thon decorations, and it became my obsession. I thought of nothing else for those months and I was on the verge of completely cracking. But I didn’t and the walk-a-thon decorations were a hit. I mention all of this because tonight is the school’s big pasta feed, and the theme is Candyland. They are using all the decoration I had made. It will be fun to see what they do with them. It was a shame to think they would all just be thrown out, but to know they are going to be used one last time, and I don’t have to lift a finger is pretty awesome.

He is smiling, but I think he mocks me.

“There is a voice in my head, slithering through my mind like a serpent. It whispers dark things. Tells me to feed.” -Osiris, Egyptian Lord of the Underworld.

Were the Egyptian gods fanciful imaginings of primitive people, or something more? Some believe that they once walked the earth as mortals, that they warred and loved just as any of their worshippers.

This is their story, the tale of how Isis gained the power of shaping. How mighty Osiris died and lived again. How they discovered the fabled First Ark, a structure older than man. It is the tale of us all, the story that shaped our race from cave dwellers into the people we are today.

Are these fanciful tales? Or long lost truth wrapped in myth? Only time knows.

Charlie Hutton is an irreverent, wise cracking jock, living in La Jolla California. Her foul-mouthed humor and unconventional lifestyle are in sharp contrast to her heart stopping beauty as she soars through life on a rocket of relentless energy and good humor. She has many friends but the most beloved is her impressively large and remarkably flatulent dog Tinkerbelle.

Always on the lookout for appealing revenue sources, she responds to a university ad looking for well paid volunteers for a Science project.

It is revealed that the research involves time travel and although she is apprehensive about the dangers, she is drawn by the handsome remuneration, the prospect of adventure, and the emotional lure of reuniting with her deceased alcoholic mother, and she agrees to participate. The experiment is a qualified success. She survives but instead of being propelled to New York in the 1970’s, as anticipated, she finds herself in the 1880’s in England, She is compelled to find a way to exist in this alien, repressive, misogynistic society for an entire year before she can hopefully return to her carefree life. Her survival depends on suppressing her impulses and curbing her tongue which she has found difficult enough in her own decade of origin, but nearly impossible amongst the staid Victorians. They find each other mutually appalling, particularly Conner FitzGerald, the captain who plucks her from the ocean where sheunexpectedly arrives.

She is too compelling to be ignored, and too outrageous to be taken seriously, in site of all her efforts to assimilate.

It is a thought provoking comedic adventure with a juicy dollop of romantic encounters and entanglements.. Animal House meets Wuthering Heights.
