I do not like my friends and I will never speak to them again. My earlier mentions of there being one clown in the neighborhood are false. There are two. While the first just looks grumpy, the second looks just like Stephen Kings “It” clown. ARG!!! My friends and the kids were ahead by one house trick or treating, and I, standing about six foot one in full Darth Vader costume with awesome lightsaber, hung back with itty bitty Spiderman (he likes to ring the doorbell so he hung back to keep from competing with the other kids for doorbell rights). My friends rushed back to get me to go through a delightfully decorated little yard. I should have suspected something when they all had their cell phones out video taping. I went in, and around the corner “It” sat, and when we met face to freaky clown face…6 foot tall Darth Vader screeched like a girl, arms flailing, lightsaber swinging, videos uploading to Facebook. grrrrr Even the balloons were creepy.

2067 was the year I died for the first time… It was painful. Had I known how often I’d be expected to die over the next several millennia, I might have made a stronger effort to stay dead. The year actually started off rather nice. I finished my PhD in high energy physics and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in the United States Air Force. My first posting after the promotion was to the Lunar One Air Base where I worked with my father, Dr. Robert Kimbridge on “The Project.” “The Project” was our name for a VASIMR Ion Drive interplanetary space craft that used Thorium LFTR reactors for both shielding and power. Capable of a sustained point one G of acceleration, our prototype was expected to make the Mars run in less than a week. By the end of November the ESX Arizona was ready for her first trial runs and I was her pilot. History has an odd way of repeating itself.

4.3 Stars (63 Reviews)
Genre: Historical Fiction | Religious & Inspirational Fiction | Religion & Spirituality | Fantasy

A Chance Encounter Forever Changed Their Lives–and Destinies.

Crafted by two masters of inspirational fiction–Janette Oke and T. Davis Bunn–and combining the engaging historical settings, rich characterization, and heartwarming messages quintessential to both authors, The Meeting Place is another timeless story for you to cherish.

Set along the rugged coastline of 18th century Canada in what was then called Acadia (now Nova Scotia and New Brunswick), The Meeting Place re-creates a world that was home to native Indians, French settlers, and English garrisons. Such diverse populations did not live in accord, however. Instead, they were isolated within their own groups by a brewing political tension under the difficult English rule.

Amid such chaotic times two women, both about to become brides and both trying to live lives of quiet peace, meet in a lush field of wildflowers. Louisa, a Frenchwoman, and Catherine, who is English, continue to meet secretly through the seasons, sharing both friendship and growing faith.

The outside world does not mirror their own tranquil happiness, and the dreaded crackdown by the English throne threatens far more than their growing bond. In the face of a heart-wrenching dilemma, Louisa and Catherine strive to maintain their faith and cling to their dreams of family and home.

Winner of the Christy Award, presented by the Christian Bookseller Association to honor the best in Christian fiction.
