Looking back I should have hated dating. Being a very tall girl made it hard to get dates, so when I got one I was thrilled. To bad most of these far and few between dates were HORRIBLE!!! Just terrible dates. From guys getting back together with their ex while on the date, to asking me to pay for the gas and my half of dinner. But they make for great stories now. I love trying to “One up” my friends with bad date stories. I wish I knew back then that I would love all these stories when I grew up.

Jacob moved from the edge of nowhere, the Okefenokee Swamp, to the transient, sometimes twisted, town of Gainesville, Florida, to follow his dreams of becoming a writer. Jacob wanted words to flow from the scroll of his pen in the same county as his literary idols Harry Crews and Marjory Kinnon Rawlings. But sometimes following your dreams can be more cumbersome than one would imagine. Trying to make it as a writer while living in a trailer park filled with misfits, retirees, man-eating monitor lizards, and pit bulls would be enough to distract the best writer. Especially when they come to Jacob to solve all of their problems. Add in a young beautiful amputee named Ronnie with a violent past that haunts her, and Jacob has his hands full finding time to write and get his first book published. Things really begin to spin out of control when Ronnie’s past follows her to the trailer park, all while Jacob falls helplessly in love with this mysterious one-armed woman, knowing he might not be able to save her from what’s to come.

Are you paranoid if you end up dead? Leslie has a suspicion: someone at work is trying to poison her. Can she prove it? No, and she doesn’t care that she can’t as she takes the law into her hands.

How about those who dismiss her fears and believe she is paranoid? Well, they certainly deserve to be punished.

What does she do when she starts questioning her own suspicions–and sanity? Hmm. That’s complicated.

In this disturbing tale of derangement, a young psychopathic woman is slipping into madness as she fights an enemy that may exist only in her imagination. She has to resort to desperate measures when she realizes that a gun, security cameras in her apartment, and constant vigilance will not be enough to survive. It is hard to find a black cat in a dark room, especially if the cat is not there, but Leslie, with her resolve fueled by paranoia, is hell-bent on finding and slaughtering it.
