I love when I come across a book that just grabs me. Has that unique perspective and makes me see something from a completely different point of view. What if Captain Hook was the good guy? I already grabbed “Captain James Hook and the Curse of Peter Pan”. I think I have even posted this book before, but today I must be in the mood for it. Definitely not my usual genre, but didn’t I say I wanted to check out new things? I know I told everyone that I was going to try a horror, well I couldn’t quite do it. I saw a spooky movie on TV with spaceships and aliens, and it freaked me out. Now I need to watch kids cartoons to balance myself back out.

First Lieutenant Marc Lucas is a very skilled Special Ops Ranger. He has a special interest in Middle Eastern history and is amazed to come face to face with the legendary Goddess of Ishtar. Her gift to him changes his life, and adds a little romance and eroticism to his covert military action seeking Osama Bin Laden.

“First Lieutenant Marc Lucas rode bouncing in the right front seat of the Humvee, a military map in his hand. He was delivering Intelligence Reports from the Third Ranger Battalion S-2 (Intelligence) to the 711th Signal Battalion for secure transmission to Washington, DC.”

“Marc was something of a history buff and the idea of driving up the Processional Way through the Ishtar Gate filled him with awe……”He felt soft, small hands stroking his chest and his flanks. They were getting uncomfortably close to his exposed midsection and he moved his hands to the awakening symbol of his gender for modesty’s sake.”

“The order to execute came and the aircraft were pushed from the hangars…in minutes they were in the air flying nap of the earth, beneath radar.”

Do you like a good adventure, a little eroticism, and lots of military covert action? Then this is the book for you!!! Follow the adventure of Lt. Marc Lucas as he receives and uses the Gift of Ishtar.

“She died,” Chessie said. “She died, rose, and nearly died again. She comes. The crows know her, the crows guide her. She follows the sound of a crying child. She follows the drag of un-kept promises on her heart.” – Chessie – Hallowed Ground

“They came in the night with their creak-wheeled wagons and patchwork tents, rolling down through the gulch and up the other side to pitch camp. In Rookwood, they called it ‘Dead man’s Gulch,’ and in Rookwood, names were important. If you walked too far through that God-forsaken, dust-drowned ditch, you were bound to drag your boots through bones. If you felt something sharp dig into your heel, it could be a tooth taking a last bite of something hot and living. The Deacon stood in silent shadows watching their progress, occasionally glancing up into the pale, inadequate light of the waning moon.”

When a man known only as The Deacon set up camp outside Rookwood, a murder of crows took to unnatural, moonlit flight. The crows came to Rookwood; trouble soon to follow.Things were already strange in that God-forsaken town, but no one could have predicted the forces and fates about to meet in a dust-bowl clearing in the desert.A Preacher.A Demon. An Angel.A Gunslinger.

A bargain with the darkness was signed in blood, and broken, and as such deals usually do, it went south. Now the fate of lost lovers, faith healers, ancient Gods and the Devil himself collide in a circle of wagons tended by the damaged and deformed, the saved and the shorn. There’s a power come to Rookwood, and this one-horse town is about to be transformed.Such deals are only made and broken…on Hallowed Ground.

Grandfather & The Raven
George Polley
4.6 Out of 5 Stars (14 Reviews)
Genre: Children’s eBooks | Literary Fiction

FREE for a limited time

George Polley’s ‘Grandfather’ stories are fables capable of teaching children,  and not a few adults, about the value of appreciating all living creatures, of the wisdom of being open-minded enough to seek solutions in unlikely places, of the rewards of working systematically towards your dreams, of the futility of bullying and aggression, and of the reassurance of a loving and harmonious environment in a world which tips all too often towards the arbitrary destruction of war.

As ever, George Polley recounts these near-legends in a voice which lulls and beguiles, and above all nudges us towards a kinder and more spiritual approach to the world around us.

To all the “cooks” out there who don’t like spending hours in the kitchen but on occasion would like to look like a pro, this is the book for you. It is not a cookbook it is a little cheat book (so to speak). This book is written for the simplistic beginner to medium level cook. It is a simple how to guide with easy ideas for those lazy Sunday mornings. The focus of the book is split 50/50 between the method of making crepes and a few delicious ideas for sweet and savory fillings. The book is filled with beautiful inspiring images.

I’m not into complicated, high level recipes; if I want something like that I go to a restaurant, where I can enjoy the fruits of somebody else’s hard labor. After reading this book I want you to be able to open your fridge take out some left-over food from the evening before and do something interesting with it. I guarantee after reading this book you will be able to make crepes like a pro and hopefully your imagination will be awaken just enough so you can do something weird and wonderful and complete unique with a simple crepe. Remember, apart from soup and breakfast cereals, almost anything can be rolled up in a crepe.
