Ms. Bohart holds a master’s degree in theater, has published in Woman’s World, and has a story in Dead on Demand, an anthology of ghost stories that remained on the Library Journals best seller list for six months. As a thirty-year nonprofit professional, she has spent a lifetime writing brochures, newsletters, business letters, website copy, and more. She did a short stint writing for Patch.com, teaches writing through the Continuing Education Program at Green River Community College, and writes a monthly column for the Renton Reporter. Inn Keeping With Murder is her third full-length novel. She has also self-published Mass Murder and Grave Doubts, as well as two short story books. She is hard at work on the second ‘Old Maids of Mercer Island’ book, as well as the second Giorgio Salvatori mystery.

I would give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars. This is a well-written mystery surrounding a group of ‘mature’ friends who decide to investigate when two of their own die under mysterious circumstances and a third becomes a suspect to one of the crimes. It is my favorite kind of murder mystery, one where the author sprinkles clues in here and there while weaving an enjoyable narrative and, if you’ve paid close attention, when the pieces fall into place at the end it all makes sense. No last minute hat-tricks to solve the crime.

The women involved are all unique individuals with well-defined and varied personalities, yet the friendship is genuine and believable despite their differences. I wasn’t a fan of the ghostly aspects, I didn’t think it was necessary, but they were inserted well into the story and weren’t a distraction except for one instance. The constant phone-ringing during the climax of the story, which was meant to cause confusion and frustration to the antagonists of the story, also served to irritate me, and I thought it unnecessarily bogged down the pace at a crucial moment. But that is a tiny personal quibble of mine in what is, overall, a thoroughly enjoyable, fun mystery. I’m looking forward to joining the girls on their next adventure when the sequel comes out.

I usually round my half star reviews downward, but in this case I don't want the author's ratings to suffer due to my personal preferences. I would recommend this title without hesitation to mystery lovers as well as those who like a touch of the paranormal in their stories.

A good murder mystery/thriller

I expected this to be a run-of-the-mill whodunnit, like an episode of 'Murder She Wrote', but instead this was a complex murder mystery with lots of twists and turns, and even some thrilling, high-octane action thrown in for good measure. At the three-quarter mark I was unable to stop reading until I finished the book.

The writing is descriptive and emotive, and the storyline is compelling. There is a broad range of characters, some likeable, some less so, who are fleshed out just enough to allow the reader to picture them I'm their mind's eye.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery/thriller.

Vielleicht ging es nur mir so, aber am Anfang fragt man sich, wieso das wohl ein Krimi ist und je weiter man liest, desto klarer wird es. Alles nimmt einen überraschenden Verlauf und bleibt bis zuletzt spannend.

I enjoyed this story. I usually avoid stories with paranormal elements and I didn’t realize this one featured that element when I downloaded it. Fortunately, it’s lightly & whimsically featured, although it provided a key turning point in the story. I liked that the main characters are primarily in their sixties, in good health, adventurous, and have strong friendships.
