This was a really fun read! I enjoyed the love and kindness displayed by Faylene throughout this book. I enjoyed that Faylene was a strong woman who led her life as she chose, and by following Christ, she chose the best. People of all ages and economic status were included in this great little read, much like real life.

I noticed no more than three errors, and that was a pleasant surprise.

I would highly recommend this book and plan to read more of Faylene's adventures.

Funny small town living

This is a funny book about Faylene who owns a car wash in her small Texas town. The main activity in town is gossip. News travels faster in High Plains, Texas than in any national news station. In this book most of the gossip is about Faylene. The smallest thing that happens to her gets spread around town (and exaggerated) in no time at all. It's hilarious. Then there is Iris. She was Faylene's mother's best friend to whom she had made a deathbed promise to find a husband for Faylene and she will do whatever it takes to keep that promise. Since Faylene is now in her 50s the promise is getting pretty hard to keep.

I enjoyed this book with it's funny characters and the COWs. You'll have to read it to find out more about the COW's. You know this is a REALLY small town when their biggest event of the year is The Catfish Festival. When Faylene entered The Biggest Catch Contest with Mike Chapman, Iris was delighted. I loved the way gossip spread and Faylene just went along trying to correct everybody's wrong information without getting upset about it. She knows it's just part of living in that small town.

This was such a fun book. Unless you have lived in a small town where gossip is the number one entertainment you may not believe some of the things that happen. I laughed so much reading this and truly enjoyed every page. Great characters and while the plot is low key the the story is entertaining and lighthearted. Next time I need a fun read I will look for this author and I may read this book again just to lighten my day.

I didn't know what to expect from this .99 book, but I was so pleasantly surprised. I love Southern fiction about small town life and this is exactly what this is. I think a better cover design could market this book better, but I was willing to take a chance on it, so maybe others will as well. Faylene and friends are hilarious and even through the hyperbole of the small town grapevine, I found this book delightful.
