The way the chapters are written is very interesting and gave a view in each character’s eyes. It made for quick reading and elevated the thrill factor. The author did an amazing job at “tying” up the loose ends a reader formulates during the course of the book, I can’t stand when I have unanswered questions at the the end so thank you to this author!

I don't usually read paranormal/werewolf/vampire books but there was a review that told us this story was unique so I downloaded it.
Though written for a younger generation I did read and complete this book. I enjoyed the way the story was told from every characters point of view. The pace was fast, the story interesting and enjoyable.

Don't read it in the dark...

The Doctor is an excellent debut novel from Jennifer Bull. It's a YA novel but adults would enjoy it as well. It's dark, and creepy, and a gripping read. Without giving away the story, the book follows three completely seperate characters as their lives slowly bring them together in an adventure you wouldn't see coming. Each character is well written and brings it's own side to the story.

The Doctor has more twists and turns than a roller coaster in the very theme park one of the characters starts off in. The book slowly unveils each character's backstory, adding in bits and pieces to the puzzle but then throws the puzzle to the floor and starts over. You find yourself sympathising with each person's plight, and pulling your blanket a little bit closer in the dark. The novel is very well written, with a great flow of story considering each chapter is told from a different person's point of view. You don't lose track of the story, despite it jumping around, and in the end you find everyone is knitted together in a very nice (albeit surprising-in-a-good-way!) ending. The story is complicated enough to be enjoyable, but not so much that you can't read it all in one sitting, which I did!

I actually hope there is a sequel or a prequel one day. I would definitely love to read more about The Doctor and how his mind and abilities work.

The idea behind this book is wonderful and amazing. As a concept I was very impressed by the fact that the story is written in such a way that you find yourself in so many different places in so many different and wonderful ways.

I found the story fun to read and easy to understand if not so easy to follow though one of the choices was a little predictable, well at least I thought so, but it didn't hurt the whole of the story in the slightest.

I really want more.

This genre of book is not what I'd normally choose for myself, however I was pleasantly surprised by Jennifer's first novel, 'The Doctor'. The writing style easy to read and very quick paced which adds to the suspense that is built up from the first chapter,and draws you in to keep reading more and discover what happens to the three main characters, Daniel, Jack and Sarah. What is particularly clever about this story is that it is told from one of three different points of view in each chapter and this makes the reader wonder how these seemingly very different people with very different stories, could possibly be connected.

If you're young and particularly enjoy paranormal psychological thrillers or stories that contain werewolves, then this book is for you. However, if you fancy trying something a bit different, then give this a try, you may be surprised.

Looking forward to seeing what Jennifer writes next.
