Soon, Pollen learns that the local survivors were rounded up and sent to live at a refugee camp housed inside a high-security penitentiary under the guise of safety. Only, those who run the refuge have less than noble intentions. When Pollen learns that her niece may still be alive, she and Marcus must do the impossible. Getting into the prison will be a piece of cake. But how will they get out? And where will they go when the rest of the world is dead?

The story itself hooked me. I love scifi and action so it was a good combination. I also am a big fan of strong young women in stories.
The book was really fast paced with tons of action and some nice scenes where the two MCs got reacquainted as they had a memory loss caused by complications with their escape.
I actually really enjoyed the story enough to buy the second book. My one huge complaint is the number of typos and proofreading errors. I noticed in her acknowledgements she thanked her editor for finding all of her errors, but I beg to differ. I would suggest a good couple of Beta readers and a new editor. These changes would make a clumsy read into a very enjoyable, engaging story.

Well done, glad there's a second book- I'll be reading that also.

It starts out with a young woman named Pollen awaking in the woods. She has no idea how she got there or how long she's been there. She tries to go home, but she is being hunted by strangers with guns. She has a tattoo that she doesn't remember getting.
She ends up with Marcus, who has the same tattoo, and is also being hunted.
Turns out a virus has killed 93% of the population. The tattoos mark those few who are immune.
Sounds good so far, my kind of book.
But events become kind of tangled, with a 'mysterious' (not my word) group called Trinity apparently behind all this, obviously for nefarious reasons.
Yada, yada, yada.
I got halfway through and lost interest. I usually finish reading books if I make it halfway, but I reached my breaking point.
Too inconsistent, but since I didn't finish, I can't say for absolute fact that it's no good. I just got bored.
