Great start to a YA fantasy series.

This book is definitely a stretch from what I normally read, but I have enjoyed all of the authors books written under her other pen name, so I thought I would give it a try.
The story is well plotted and the main characters are likable. It is part of a trilogy and must be read in order to get the full story. I am okay with this as all of the books have been written and are available.
I found the idea of a prophecy with the elements and seekers involved to be interesting. I liked the bit of romance and that the characters were young adults.
The writing was excellent and I will read the next book!

This was a well written book - quite a page turner! I didn't like that it ended rather abruptly. However, I look forward to reading more in Books 2 and 3. I appreciated how well-edited it was and how easily it read.
The characters are very relatable. I especially love Mordecai, the queen, and the elements so far! They really are quite well woven into the story to bring out the main characters' qualities, flaws, and strengths.

I heard there were a lot of great books on Amazon for free. While there are a lot of treasures out there, there are a lot of books out there that make me feel as though my IQ has dropped simply by reading it. This is not one of those books.

I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I became hooked to this trilogy and actually paid for the remainder of the series and finished within a week. I was not disappointed.

Thank you Melissa Pearl for an incredible read. I wish you the best.

Unknown is the epic fantasy story of two young people who must overcome their own inner demons as they seek to fulfill the prophecy that might be the only way to save their world. In this first book in the Elements Trilogy, Kyla and Jethro journey from their home across a treacherous landscape of dangerous canyons and dark forests. Trolls, stinging dragonflies, and the army of Mezrah are a few of the things they must face as they search for the elements.

The elements took on a surprising form which was as unexpected to me as it was to the two main characters. The main characters themselves are realistic and fully flushed out, as are the accompanying side characters. Kyla is fierce and strong willed, but being a princess used to living in luxury she finds the journey harder and less exciting than she had anticipated. Jethro is a brave and strong man who is hopelessly in love with a woman he can't have and you can really feel his pain as he struggles to resist the temptation to give into his feelings once he's alone with Kyla.

This was a good beginning to a YA epic fantasy and I'm interested to see where the story and characters go on from here.

I enjoyed reading this book even though I don't usually read this genre. It was easy to read and I found it relaxing. Interesting characters and plot twists. I like how the author has made all the elements of the plot fit together so well.
