Before becoming a full-time writer, Darryl Nyznyk (pronounced NIZ-nik) practiced law for two decades. As an attorney, he dealt with developers and environmental groups like the California Coastal Commission and the Sierra Club. After working on a case involving the Sierra Club, Nyznyk purchased a book called WILD AT LAW to read more about the group, and became enthralled with their work. He was especially drawn to the story of the Sierra Club’s efforts to stop Walt Disney from building the ultimate ski resort in the Mineral King Valley of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Southern California. That's when the idea for his latest novel, an environmental legal thriller called THE CONDOR SONG (June 2013) hit him. “I became interested in the entire concept of the various sides of the debate of good and evil,” says Nyznyk. “Here you have Walt Disney, an honorary member of the Sierra Club, trying to build an environmentally friendly development in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and he is opposed by the Sierra Club on the basis that no matter what Disney did to make the project environmentally friendly, it simply couldn't be done.” Nyznyk was raised in a middle-class family in a Los Angeles suburb. His upbringing didn’t prepare him for campus life at UC—Santa Barbara during the anti-war demonstrations of the early 1970s. It was a wild time in a wild place, and it ultimately ingrained in him a sense of individualism, tempered by the social consciousness that helped shape his core and now forms the foundation of his writing. After graduation, Nyznyk continued on to receive his Magna Cum Laude Law Degree at the University of San Diego. Family and a wide-ranging law practice consumed most of the next 20 years of his life. For nine years after private practice, he was general counsel and then president of a Southern California real estate development company. Since then, he has gone into occasional teaching and full-time writing. His first novel was a political thriller titled THE THIRD TERM and his second a Christmas novel titled MARY'S SON, A Tale of Christmas. An Amazon best-seller, MARY'S SON is also a three-time Gold recipient of the Mom’s Choice Awards: Most Inspirational/Motivational book for Juvenile and Young Adult readers and Best Fiction/Literature for Adults. Father to four grown daughters, Nyznyk lives in Manhattan Beach, California with his wife Loretta.

This is a masterfully written crime novel that mixes the suspense of the best crime writers and environmental sensitivities. Nyznyk captures you immediately and does not let you put his book down, great page turner. Looking forward to reading other Nyznyk novels.

I really enjoyed the mystery. Several different plots ran separately and were well brought together near the end.
I enjoyed it even though some of the characters and sentiments stand for much that I loathe, anti business and antil development and so much that destroys our economy and prevents people from enjoying healthy exercise and experience.
I really like the at anti development Sierra Club attorneys were accurately portrayed as having no outddor experience of their own, just typical well meaning ignorant ideologues.
While the authors sympathies were evident in his opposition to a ski resort in the mounntain area west of Visalia, CA, an area whose economy was destroyed 40 years ago when outsiders storpped development of Mineral King by Disneyland and is typical of the ignorance of pople who stopped that development and would stop it again, he still told a gvery good story.
Anti development liberals will love the book and conservatives who enjoy the outdoors will enjoy the story enough to enjoy it despite its message.
As an attorney, I like the fact that one or more of the attorneys portrayed were people of great conscience and ethics as I think most attorneys are. I was sorry they were on what I think was the wrong side of development.

Overall a heart warming story of a struggle to protect a species of wild life from the all too often heart breaking stories of man's inhumane pursuit of wealth at the expense of other species and their territories. If I were to offer any form of criticism it would be that if a story is going to introduce a romantic element then do so with more gusto as this area was a bit limpid and was seemingly there.....but not there..!! It was almost as if the author was unsure of how to develop it so we sort of stumbled along and then fell into the same old trap of the intervention of a predictable near tragedy to ensure it.

A gripping & interesting book, the author reminds me of a contemporary of the Russian classics with an in-depth perception of human characters, flawlessly depicted whether female or male.
A wealth of compassion and understanding flows while the moral issues each lawyer has to contend with sometimes during his career are being pondered. The suspense is thick as in any court case, the romantic event developing on the side unexpected yet decisive in the final outlook on life of our hero.
Sean is a darn good man whose high moral standards forced him to speak his truth and stick to his values- committing career suicide and breaking his marriage and family life.
I had a lot of pleasure following the intricate web of this novel, regaling myself into a perfect end.
Yes. I recommend it.
