A year after clearing her name from Ashby’s first murder in 20 years, Doris thinks life is back to normal in the quiet town she now calls home. She’s been commissioned to do the flowers for the wedding of a friend, the son of one of the wealthiest families in the area. She knows that her business will take off because the wedding is the social event of the year.

But when the bride doesn’t show up and it looks like a second murder in as many years, Doris finds herself on the suspect list once again. Too bad things go sour for a little while with her handsome boyfriend, Detective Stephens, so he’s not always there to reassure her that she’ll be off the hook once again. And she knows that meddling in finding a killer can only lead to bad things. So she stays an arm’s length from this investigation, making sure to stay in business by doing the flowers for the bride’s funeral.

At the funeral, things only heat up with accusations flying about who killed the bride and why. Doris only hopes that she can keep her name out of trouble and get her boyfriend back before it’s too late.

This is book 2 in the Doris the Florist series. Doris, a widow, and her young son Kyle moved to the small town of Ashby after Doris' husband died. In this book she has been hired to create the flowers for the wedding of the town vet and friend, Michael. Just as the wedding is about to start, Doris' boyfriend, Detective Will Stephens, announces to the guests that the bride-to-be has been murdered.

This was a fun sweet read with lots of twists and turns & two, count them two, surprise endings. I will say, that one of the two endings had me tearing up. I definitely recommend this series to all, but first read The Snapdragon Murder (book 1) and Death by Chocolate (book 2) to get the full experience. All 3 are great summer reads.

Ich fand die Ermittlungen zum Mord ganz nett geschrieben, die endgültige Auflösung hat mich jedoch enttäuscht. Fortsetzungen werde ich mir sicher nicht mehr kaufen.

Doris is the local florist in the sleepy town of Ashby and she has been hired to do the flowers for the wedding of the most eligible bachelor in town, Michael who is the son of the wealthiest family in Ashby and also a good friend to Doris. Everything is going splendidly until the bride-to-be is found dead and Michael names Doris as the main suspect in the murder!

Unable to believe the turn of events and utterly shocked, Doris suddenly
finds herself the target of suspicions, gossip and pulled into a drama completely out of a movie!

Can she prove herself innocent?
Who killed the bride and why?
Why did Michael name Doris as a suspect?

I was attracted to buy Blooms & Grooms by its cover which is very innovative and eye catching. Although the blurb looked very promising, I felt the book didn't live up to my expectations. First of all, this is the second book in the cozy mystery series and it shows. I had not read the first book so I felt the lack of character description and introduction. Like Doris goes on and on about Will, the detective in the Ashby police force and also her boyfriend, but I could not picture him because I didn't know what he looked like or what his thoughts and beliefs were or how he was as an individual. It felt all through like I was missing something. So my advice to you is read this book only after you have read the first book in the series, The Snapdragon Murder.

I didn't get fully involved in the story and though I liked Doris, I was not impressed with the plot. There are loop holes to the whole mystery like no explanation is given why Michael named Doris as a suspect to the murder. Also their is no development of other suspects and the whole murder mystery is suddenly wrapped up. The only impressive point is the solution to the mystery.

All in all, an okay book. I give it a 3 out of 5.

This was an interesting light mystery/romance. The mystery was a little bit intriguing but not distracting from the romance side of the story. All in all it was a good light read for a trip or just an escape without getting buried in the book.
