Mountain of Madness (Annals of the Nameless Dwarf Book 2) (English Edition) Formato Kindle
As forces of unimaginable destruction coalesce around the mountain fortress of a mad sorcerer, the philosopher Aristodeus puts together a team for a last desperate attempt to avert the coming cataclysm:
A knight besieged by doubts, who has been prepared since a child for the current crisis, yet is crumbling under the pressure of the task before him;
An albino assassin who denies the truth of what he really is;
A woman with a black sword as disturbing as the axe responsible for the massacre at Arx Gravis;
And a dwarf with no name, who will either carve out the path of his own redemption or condemn the world to a night that will never end.

Pros
+ Unique and interesting characters which continuously evolve and gain more depth with each release. As I've mentioned in my individual reviews you'll find none of your do-gooder heroes here. The more you read the more you learn about each character's sordid pasts. Their motivations are clearly defined and easily understood.
+ Plenty of well balanced action.
+ Extremely well written, which I've come to expect from Prior.
+ Extensive glossary detailing all people, places and things in the story.
+ Perfect amount of clever humor.
+ Detailed history makes you want to read all other stories taking place in the land of Malkuth.
+ A gorgeously detailed map of the world of Aethir.
+ Clever cliffhanger endings practically force you to immediately start the next tale.
Cons <contains SPOILERS>
- Real world references and names drew me out of the fantasy setting of the story at times. Unfortunately, this happens to me with nearly every cross-over style fantasy tale. This merely a personal preference and not a reflection of the overall tale.
- Glossary's detail can be confusing, a bit overwhelming and reveal spoilers about other stories in the world, especially if you haven't read the Prior's "Deacon Shader" series.
All five tales in the Nameless series are superbly written and bring a uniqueness to the epic fantasy genre which seems all too rare these days. Each character has a very distinctive style which continues to develop and evolve with the storyline as they're forced to confront the challenges of the present as well as face those of their past. The writing is top notch and the pacing of each story is near perfect. The Chronicles of the Nameless Dwarf has quickly become my favorite new fantasy series. Individually they're quick reads but never disappoint. I was always left eagerly awaiting the author's next release of Nameless, his companions and their adventures in the lands of Malkuth, Qlippoth and beyond. Well done.

The Nameless Dwarf is about a Dwarf who has lost his name due to terrible deeds he has done in the past. Now out to try and save those who run from him, he finds the dwarf he truly is. It is the adventure that makes the dwarf, isn't it?
D.P Prior describes everything brilliantly in this story. With a cast joined through coincidence, the story unfolds well, each instalment ending and making you want more. The way the excitement, peril, and thrill, all continue to increase through the tale, as well as your understanding of the past, is great. It's a sure winner to draw you in.
I feel the author did a great job at making each character unique, and stand out on their own, such as Nameless being a brave fighter, tormented by past deeds, whilst his non too clever newly acquainted friend Nil, is more comedic to the group, as his way of talking is easily grasped through the language and form of sentence used, as well as just how he thinks. Each companion has their own strengths and weaknesses, their own parts to add to the adventure, and this is what makes the tale so enjoyable to read.
It isn't a group of likeminded travellers who set out together for the same goal, or a goal similar in design. It's a group of fully unique individuals who happen to stumble amongst one another as the journey progresses, each adding their own wants and needs, their own distinct personalities to the tale.
I really would recommend this book. It is worth buying it in this form instead of its individual instalment form as well, as no doubt, like me, you'll want to move straight on to the next.
