The cover is wonderful however the story is just an ok read since I found it too juvenile for my taste.
The papaepack and kindle version say the book has 240 pages, actually they are about 70 on my Kindle.

This had more angst than I was expecting - and thats not a bad thing. Trystan has a home life that no-one would envy, and the girl he considers one of his best friends and whom he has fallen in love with doesn't give him any indication she feels the same way. Mari has tried to deny her feelings for Trystan, but has been hurt in the past and doesn't want to put her heart on the line with playboy Trystan.

I enjoyed getting to know the characters, and the alternating POV definitely showcased the facade Trystan wears outside of his home. I look forward to more in the series.

When I first started reading this, I thought, ok, another book about teenagers. While this is true, as I kept reading, I quickly realized that there was so much more to it than that. But I have to warn you, it left off in a cliff hanger.
The book is so full of young emotions, ones that need nurturing, and others that should never be felt, not only as young adults, but anyone. No child should feel the wrath of an abusive parent, yet Trystan has not only felt it, but lives it every day of his young life. As a senior in highschool, he is counting the days to when he will finally be free from his current purgatory. If only he could approach the girl he loves and let her know how he feels. It would make his life worth living.
Mari has always liked Trystan, but he's a player, or so he likes to portray. She's been burnt before. Her ex left her high and dry and broken. She's so afraid to trust another and her best friend knows this, and even though she's confided her her feelings for Trystan, Katie never lets her forget her previous heartbreak, and pressures her to stay away from Tristan.
So much anticipation with regards to where their relationship will lead, if it goes anywhere. Well written, with characters that will make your heart bleed, this is definitely a must read. I can't wait to read the next episode in the series.

** spoiler alert ** Amazing! This isn't like the books I typically read but it's one of the newest from one of my favorite authors so I decided to give it a go. I was drawn in from the beginning and couldn't put this book down! There were no wild action scenes but instead a wonderfully woven story about two high school teenagers with secrets that they're afraid to share and only with a selected few. Throughout the book you can see multiple scenes shared from both Trystan and Mari's points of view so we know their secrets and how they feel towards each other. Sadly, Mari is torn throughout the story, fighting her conflicting feelings for Trystan. She starts out with the belief that she's the only girl in school who doesn't swoon at the sight of him because she sees him as one of those hit-it and quit-it type of guys. He takes what he wants then moves on to the next poor sucker while Mari believes in true love and is afraid of getting burned again, giving others the idea that she's a virgin and a prude. Pretty typical scenario right? Well, we also find out that Trystan is a victim of abuse at the hands of his father, a secret that nobody else knows. Mari knows that the mighty Trystan has finally fallen for somebody but she doesn't realize that it's her, all the while pushing him to tell this mystery girl how he feels. In the end Mari seems to have overcome her inhibitions and she's going to tell Trystan that she's in love with him at the risk of having her heart torn out when she stumbles onto another of his secrets and that's where we're left hanging. I can not wait for the next book in the series! I have to see if Mari tells Trystan she loves him and how he will react in light of this newest revelation. This book is a whirlwind of emotions that I think most people can identify with. I want Mari to share her love with Trystan and help him overcome the secrets of his past, in each other finding strength. The kiss/almost kiss scenes are electrically charged and perfectly drawn out leaving me breathless. While they continue falling for each other, I was falling for them both. To be able to induce these kinds of rolling emotions in a reader is the mark of a fantastic writer. I feel not only connected with both characters but that they are a part of me. This review was really hard to write because all I can keep thinking is WOW!

Ich hatte schon "Scandalous" von dieser Autorin gelesen und ich war gespannt, wie denn ihre Young Adult Bücher so sein würden, da mich ihre paranormalen Bücher nicht wirklich interessieren. Jedoch war ich etwas zögerlich, dieses Buch zu lesen, da es eigentlich aus mehreren Volumen besteht, was mich persönlich etwas stört, da es dann jeweils nur 70 Seiten sind, die dann natürlich mit einem spannenden Cliffhanger enden. Jedoch habe ich mich endlich dazu aufgerafft, diese Reihe zu lesen und ich bin froh, dass ich es getan habe, da ich die Story wirklich süß und romantisch fand. :D

Die Story wird einmal aus der Sicht von Mari in der ersten Person erzählt und von Trystan in der dritten Person. Ich habe mich eigentlich ziemlich schnell an diesen Stil gewöhnt und er hat mir eigentlich sehr gut gefallen. Auch der Schreibstil der Autorin ist in diesem Buch sehr flüssig und leicht zu lesen, man kommt also sehr schnell durch.

Die beiden Protagonisten fand ich wirklich sympathisch, ich habe wirklich mit ihnen mitgelitten und gehofft, dass alles gut für die beiden wird. Vor allem Trystan ist mir sehr ans Herz gewachsen, seinen Familienleben ist wirklich hart und obwohl er auf den ersten Blick wie ein typischer Bad Boy erscheint, so ist er das eigentlich gar nicht. Mari ist mir ein bisschen auf die Nerven gegangen, um ehrlich zu sein. Vor allem gegen Ende, da sie denkt, dass Trystan sie nur ausnutzt, obwohl es eigentlich offensichtlich sein müsste, was er für sie empfindet.

Den besten Freund von Trystan, Seth, kann ich überhaupt nicht ausstehen. Ich mag seine Ansichtsweise nicht und ehrlich gesagt war ich immer etwas genervt, wenn er in einer Szene auftauchte.

Mich stört immer noch, dass diese Serie in so kurzen Volumen aufgeteilt ist, ich hätte darauf einfach ein ganzes Buch gemacht, da ich finde, dass die Preise für so wenig Seiten einfach zu hoch sind. Trotzdem werde ich das Geschehen um Trystan und Mari weiterverfolgen, da das Ende wirklich mit einem spannenden Cliffhanger geendet hat und mir die Charaktere ans Herz gewachsen sind.
