The Touch (English Edition) Formato Kindle
Editorial Review
Lisa Olsen gives us a darker trip into the paranormal with her sophomore book, The Touch. Lexi has the gift of psychometry, the ability to read past memories of an object. She quickly becomes embroiled in a police investigation into her sister's family which brings her into contact with Detective Gabriel Ryan, a face from the past. The third person POV allows for better access into the investigation, following Detective Ryan, and offers just enough insight into the crime procedure without becoming weighed down by it. Adding to the mix is the presence of ghosts, each with their own agenda. The Touch offers the quick, witty banter this author is becoming known for, while adding a fair amount of suspense and chills from the otherworldly characters.

When Lexi's sister, Allison "Allie" Travers tells her that her husband has disappeared, things start getting intense and never stop. Lexi and Neil never got along. Matter of fact, she couldn't stand her brother-in-law, especially since he limited her contact with her 10 year old niece, Chloe. She decides to be a good sister and support Allie.
Enter Detective Gabriel Ryan. Having dated Allie briefly in High School, he decides to stop in to take the missing persons report. His connection with Lexi, however, is unexpected and virtually instantaneous. During the course of the investigation, Chloe subsequently disappears.
So what's happening? What happened to Neil? What is the secret of his affair with his coworker? Did he run off and take Chloe with him? Maybe, until Lexi's "touch" unleashes discoveries that fly in the face of everything anybody believes.
This book is excellent, but it's two strongest points are the characters and author's ability to weave a thriller that never slows down. Lexi is a very in-depth character and is about as realistic as they come. Not to say the others weren't, because they definitely are (I actually liked the obnoxious detective Cooper). As I read the book, I had no trouble imagining the characters and their behaviors as well as body language. They simply came to life.
It was difficult to put down because the author keeps feeding you enough details to raise more questions, demanding that you continue to read further. I was neglecting things I needed to do because I wanted to keep reading. The author's writing style is great too, allowing for a good flow. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes thrillers, crime drama, or the paranormal.
Lexi has am unusual gift – when she touches an object, she can see its past including where it has been and the people who have handled it. When her brother in law and niece go missing, her sister calls her in to help find them.
This is a great read, with nonstop action and occasional humour. The style is easy to read and I finished the book in three sittings. The characters are great, all a little flawed but likeable nonetheless.
The book is a long way for perfect, not least because it’s so patently off kilter when it comes to certain situations. Even accepting Lexi’s abilities, it’s a bit too much of a stretch of the imagination that any Police officer in his right mind would pursue a witness in a case, particularly when that witness is so close to the main players.
Luckily, the rest of the book stands up enough on its own to make it easy to gloss over the occasional faux pas.
I didn’t find it as scary as other reviewers had, but I can see why they did.
The story was mostly well constructed and I didn’t see the twist coming, even though it was obvious in hindsight.
Overall, I really did enjoy this and would have no qualms recommending it to anyone looking for a fun, fast – paced supernatural thriller. I’ve ready downloaded another of Olsen’s books and I’m excited to see where she takes me next!
