Very Good Sci-Fi

I'm giving this a full 5 Stars. I've always loved Sci-Fi and this is a very good one. The story is unique for me even though there have been many S-F stories about Mars. It was well written with some deep insights into the human condition, and with believable and likable main characters -- even the "non-human" ones. In fact, two of my favorites were an ex-Cartie and a clone. Unfortunately, it does not make me want to live on Mars, even without the risk of Cartie attacks. Still, the author made it believable and I think I 'could' live in that environment if I had no choice.

I only saw a couple of typos and extra words so it had a pretty good writer and editor. If you like Sci-Fi you really should try this. I do recommend it!

I picked this book up, read the first chapter, understood nothing, and put it down. Later I thought that I would give it another try and started again. This time I was hooked, dragged through the dusty landscape of Mars and the ramshackle human habitats on a roller coaster ride to overcome the evil mechs. This is a fast paced, rip roaring ride through a future time thanks to the amazing imagination of Jordan Lockhart. You are a consummate word smith Sir, well done and thank you for the experience.

While this story has some "black magic" it has less that a lot of what we call science fiction. Strangely, the worst example happens right at the beginning where a satellite being self aware is described as a "bug". What follows is a story about how that satellite attempts, with only the materials available to it in orbit, to wipe out the cloning technology on Mars, which the satellite sees as a threat. It is also about how the humans on Mars, the "cloners" in particular fight to survive using the limited resources available to the colony on Mars. It is this making the most of limited resources which provides the interest in the story.

This was quite a difficult one to get in to for the first few chapters as there were a lot of characters being introduced and it wasn't always apparent where they fit into the overall plot. After a while it settled down into an enjoyable read, and I found myself wanting the different story arcs to connect. I found the latter half a great read and entertaining. The ending seemed a bit rushed though and it felt like there were still some loose ends to tie up.
