I wanted to like this book, I really did! It starts off well, and I was immersed in the story but the heroine became unlikeable. Just because you're a 21st century woman doesn't mean you go off and act like an idiot. She could've been burned at the stake, raped or killed by her silly behaviour. I tried to keep going but I stopped at 50%...and this is a long book!

Having the hero and heroine snipe at each other is not enjoyable, and they do this for pages on end. Gah! For a romance to work, you need there to be character development, and character arc of change. There was none of this, and the heroine's rudeness to the characters around her (esp the hero!!) was a contributing factor to be not finishing the book.

I liked the story concept and would really like to know how it all ended. But I was at the point where I was hoping the bad guys would kill the heroine...not good ;)

I'm a fast reader that I can read a book within a day or so and the extraordinarily long story took me a couple of days to read. It is worth the read. Dougray is a Irish Lord in the past troubled-Ireland who ends up in the future after Neala warned him of it - at the time he didn't believe. There he got hit by a rental car driven by Aislinn and her family visiting Ireland sites. He has amnesia but later he remembers and has to go back to the place where the mist was. Aislinn worried about him, stubbornly follows him into the mist and ends up in the past. It does get annoying that she desperately trying find a way back to the time-traveling 'mist' until Neala says she doesn't have ability send her back - giving her hints that she was there for a reason. A lot of subplots woven together with the main plot. Aislinn tries to be a warrior woman by learning how to protect herself in the time. Being in past, the other men are getting tired of Aislinn's strange ideas and eventually decide that she needs a husband to curb her. Fighting for her independence and her attraction to Dougray, she ends up - fighting all the guys for her hand in marriage but it's Dougray who outwits her and she has to marry him. Communication between them gets frustrating because they are stubborn. A lot of heartache and Aislinn should have known that someone is trying to kill her but at the time she was mourning. In some ways, it reminded me of 'Beyond Forever by Debra Dier' but this story was different and I couldn't predict what would happen next. I was satisfied with the ending. I am curious if they are going to have a spin-off time series with Connor or Declan - all grown up or his sisters.

I love this story! I won't get into the plot--it's been well covered.

Nutt can really write characters--the two main characters were fully fleshed out. The supporting cast of characters were an entertaining bunch, from the best friends and family, right to the villains. The Irish history is fascinating.

I was so immersed in this story (nearly 500 pages of it)that when I read the last page, a letdown feeling set in. I really like it when a book can do that to me--make me suspend my disbelief to the point that reality fades while I'm reading. I enjoyed being in the world the author created. Truly magical.

In fairness to readers who are looking for perfection, I'll add that there are a few misspelled words,and several missing words. I did read in another review that the book went on and on and on. Perhaps the reader felt that way because the story arc isn't necessarily a straight line from point to point. It meanders. But for me, the story was so engaging, that even the meandering was incredibly entertaining.

I will be reading more of Nutt's books.

The sense of story is so strong in this book that the few typos I mentioned aren't enough to subtract even half of a star-- 5 stars.
