Publisher's Weekly ReviewZogby shares the intriguing results of Time Perception and interviews with experts in the field. Having grown up in a civil war, Zogby escaped death on multiple occasions and witnessed the deaths of close friends; these experiences gave him an appreciation for how precious time is and a desire to somehow slow it down. Zogby begins by describing how people sense time, before delving into brain biology. He also discusses how time is limited to the speed at which the brain captures and processes sensory information.
The middle chapters address the many factors that influence one's experience of time: among them, mindfulness, extreme alertness, emotional control, personality type, and the use of drugs.
In the final chapters, Zogby delves into remembrance, "mental time travel," and the aging brain before concluding with thoughts on living in the moment and for a prosperous, long time. Zogby's endeavor is a worthwhile one, and his thoughtful explanations and meditations have a wide appeal.

Midwest Book ReviewMany books discuss time management; but few discuss the nature of the time being managed, or the mechanics of how to alter it. Fewer yet include a range of psychological reflections for introverts and extroverts alike, discussions of personal choices in how to spend time, or tips on how to handle memories and aging brains that perceive time as 'slipping away'.

Readers who anticipate a self-help approach or time management guide alone may be surprised and initially stymied by the healthy dose of supporting science and psychology behind these suggestions;
but given how many lighter (and less informative) approaches are on the market, it's pleasing to finally see a book that intermingles self-help with science and delves into specifics at points where too many others would generalize. The result is no light discussion, but an in-depth read that pairs insights on evolutionary processes and the latest research with pointers on how readers can make the most out of time.
This book is the 'next level' in time management that many have been looking for: a concrete approach that pairs insights on time perception with tips on how to alter and better handle time's challenges. -

The Power of Time Perception by Jean Paul Zogby is an extremely thought-provoking and, in some ways, startling book about the fundamental nature and reality of time.
I loved reading
The Power of Time Perception and, in fact, there is so much information to take in and ponder over that I would probably re-read certain sections again. I was very surprised to realize how much we take time for granted and think of it as a fundamental aspect of reality when, in fact, it may or may not be so. But what Jean Paul shows through this book is that one can learn to make every second count when needed and, basically, make the most of the life that is given. I also loved hearing about the research conducted in the neurological and scientific fields presented in this book. I could then apply this new knowledge to the metaphysical questions regarding time and everything made more sense. A very well researched book that I would highly recommend! -- Gisela Dixon for Readers' Favorite

Mr. Zogby has too much time on his hands. Very boring book, but it was cheap.

Often we hear that time is money and money is time. In his book, The Power of Time Perception by Jean Paul Zogby, the author debunks this supposed truism and philosophy. He successfully teaches the engaged reader, through a step by step easy to follow study, the value of time, how the brain interprets time and answering the age-old conundrum of why time flies when you're having fun or watched pot never boils.

He also personalizes his study by helping the reader to identify what kind of person they are as it relates to being introverted or extroverted, how to maintain the health of the brain, the impact that geography has on the individual's impression of time and even down to various cultures and how those cultures relate to their attitude towards time.

Through the use of various published studies, dynamic quotes from famous scientists and writers, a study into the anatomy of the brain, psychology, scientific facts (such as the 3 second window); this intensive study into the subject of time has provided the reader with a number of timely gifts. Those gifts include practical tips on how to be in the moment or the now, the use of meditation, being in the "flow", power naps, taking a walk, chewing gum, listening to good music eating the proper nutrients, etc.

The Power of Time Perception is a quality, in-depth written book designed to reveal to the reader the reality that "time is more precious than money because it is our most scarce resource" and as such honor our lives by being in the moment.

"A slower and simpler life is a happier life."

Time is a universal commodity yet so many of us don’t understand or utilize it properly. Now, thanks to over six years of research, Jean Paul Zogby is here to help us harness the power of time perception.

Starting with the psychology of how we perceive time, Zogby explains how we sense time, how our brains perceive time, what factors influence our discernment of time, how our personality and emotions determine how we observe time, how our memories alter time and how we can make every second count. Zogby isn’t basing his premise on his beliefs but on scientific research. Blending physics, biology, psychology and personal experience, Zogby teaches us how to quantify time and how best to manage it. It’s not about making lists or eating healthy, it’s all in our awareness of how time works. We have the power within and it’s all a matter of perception.

While there are a few concepts communicated in this book I don’t agree with, the overall theme I wholeheartedly support. Extremely well written, The Power of Time Perception takes time management to an almost spiritual level. Make every second count … a mantra I fully endorse. Highly recommend!

Favorite Quote: “We live in the moment when we stop living in the past, enjoy the present and look forward to the future.”

Though I have just read it, and found some confusion in the process, I suspect that this book will prove to be one of the most valuable I have read in a long time.

Until I read this book, I don't think I ever realized how important our personal perspective of time is to our sense of well being.

Some of what Zogby reveals, well backed by research literature, is counter-intuitive to me. After very careful self-examination as I read, it does seem to ring true. It is the overcoming of my long held personal biases that made the book a bit of a challenge. For example, I had to discover how being intensely involved in something - processing lots of information very quickly - actually slows down time in retrospection (and it was here that I found Zogby's presentation early in the book a little confusing. I see now that the experience of time can only really be in retrospection). This did become clearer later in the book. I think now that he simply didn't highlight this retrospective element clearly enough for me earlier on.

Overall, I found Zogby's writing very clear and organized. Yes, it is repetitive, but I think this is helpful, at least for me.

Most important to me is Zogby's assertion that we can significantly control our sense of time. The specific suggestions on how to do this are not surprising. It is rather having the idea and confidence that we can actually do this. It is early days for me in my practice of this, but it is very important and I am motivated to make useful progress.

I found the book interesting and informative, and enjoyed the subject matter, but the repitition of points previously made and lack of proper editing throughout was disappointing. Just because a work is reproduced digitally is no excuse for sloppy editing, and this book was sloppily edited.

The Power of Time Perception: Control the Speed of Time to Slow Down Aging, Live a Long Life, and Make Every Second Count Now by Jean Paul Zogby is a fascinating look at time, and our perception of time. Zogby examines time through many different filters, namely physics, biology, psychology and personal experience. Of particular interest to me was the cultural difference in how we treat and use time. The differences between Western and Eastern cultures are marked, and certainly impact humankind in interesting ways. Zogby also discusses how as we age, we tend to see time shrinking and going by more rapidly, which is probably true, because most of life's significant moments happen when we are younger, when we have time to anticipate them. With fewer events to anticipate, there is a perception of time flying by more quickly. With plenty of practical applications, and material that is presented in a clear and concise manner, this is an interesting and informative book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make time for this
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 2, 2020
I was totally unprepared for such a thorough examination in the subject of the perception of the passage of time. The author appears to know the subject very well and has clear straightforward explanations for every question you might have and many more that we wouldn’t have thought of. We are all aware of perceptions of when time drags and when time vanishes The author explains why this is so and what is happening in the minds of elite athletes and performers that aren’t part of our normal experience. Plenty has been written about money but we know so little about time. This book is a good use of your time if you want to get the most out of the time you have, to experience it rather than let it slip by unnoticed. Thank you for taking the time to read my review.

The Power of Time Perception: Control the Speed of Time to Make Every Second Count written by Jean Paul Zogby is an exploration into the understanding of time. This book is full of in depth research, explanations, and scenarios and over-all great ideas for time management. Jean Pail Zogby, has an amazing flair for writing and was able to get his points across in a way that was educational, but not boring and was also easy to understand for those of us, like me, who are not psychological wizards. I was happily surprised that this book was so in depth and very interesting. The Power of Time Perception: Control the Speed of Time to Make Every Second Count delves into what makes us feel as if time is flying by and why it feels as if time slows down when we are bored. I highly recommend this book to all, I’m sure you will take away at least one piece of information that, if utilized, will help you to make the most of the time in your life.

This book was very interesting and it makes a lot of sense. I didn't know that a fly sees movement in slow-motion, relative to the way we see it. It is all about perception. If you want to improve your perception of time and make the events in your life more memorable, then this is the book for you. Definitely a 5-star read.

This book gave me a lot of new perspectives in doing the things. How by changing the way we see a thing can be used to our advantage of stretching the time and shrinking is cleanly and neatly explained. One can see that author has tried his level best to simply and consolidate all the vast knowledge he has about time perception. Highly recommend.!
