AUSTRALIA: The Puppeteer (The Puppets of Washington Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 14 ratings

The race is on – and it's not only against time, it's against the CIA and Mossad, both of whom are after the mysterious kingpin known only as The Puppeteer. And if Talya and Samuel don't get to The Puppeteer before the CIA and Mossad do, it will be the end for them. Everything they own – especially their lives – is at stake here.

Although Talya and Samuel were officially cleared of charges of treason against the State of Israel, it seems that someone wants to see the verdict of “innocent” overturned – and this could have severe consequences for Talya and Samuel. Their only hope is to fight their way through the tangled web of lies, masks and coverups and get to The Puppeteer in time. Their peril-fraught search, and flight from sinister forces who would rather see them dead, takes them across the world, to both Australia and Europe – although this time they have allies, in the form of The Canadian Secret Service.

In The Puppeteer, the second volume in The Puppeteer of Washington series, the rollercoaster narrative, with all of its unexpected twists and turns, will take you on a nailbiting ride through a number of countries. Get ready for the journey of your life when you enter the world of The Puppeteer of Washington.

Lavina Giamusso began writing when she was fourteen years old. She wrote sonnets and accounts of her adventures in West Africa where she grew up. Her favorite author then, was Molière. She wrote a critique of his work, “Tartuffe”, at the age of eighteen, which earned her an award in French Literature.

Encouraged by her father to pursue a financially rewarding career, Lavina entered the oil and mining industries in 1970. However, she never abandoned her writing – she wrote a couple of novels in 2006-2007. In 1982, she moved to Australia where she began editing and writing in earnest in 1984. She was appointed Director of the Offshore Engineering Program at Monash University in 1989. While heading this program successfully for several years, Lavina edited numerous technical works and authored a couple of primers for the industry.

Lavina returned home to Vancouver, Canada in 1994 and while fighting cancer, she retired in 2000. Now comfortably ensconced in her apartment, overlooking English Bay, Lavina devotes her time to writing, translating and editing the works of authors from across the world.

This is an exciting page-turner with many unexpected twists and turns. The two fugitives, Talya and Samuel, have escaped again; and we still don't know who the "puppeteer" is.

Just as the first book in the series, I thoroughly enjoyed this second one just as much! I want to say that you don't have to read the first book to enjoy this one, but I'd imagine you'd be a little lost on a few plot points. However, it's sure to be a good read without The Sadir Affair being read yet. This is a great espionage/thriller book. I enjoy learning a bit about all the different intelligence divisions: US, Canada, Australia and a bit of France. I want to give you a really useful tip that I used to remember and keep the characters straight. I used the note function on the Kindle within the book itself. I just jotted down the name and a few brief descriptions for each person that I needed to. I added to it as needed as I went along. It makes it so much easier and more enjoyable. The plot of this book was very well done. I really enjoy the author's style of writing. The characters are all interesting and fleshed out appropriately. There were very few editing/grammar issues that I noticed; not distracting at all. If you like espionage, thriller, suspense, mystery and even just a small tinge of romance, you really need to give this a read. I'm really looking forward to enjoying the entire series. I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second in an International Intrigue series with a twist of mystery.

In the opening, Talya and her long time friend, Samuel are in Australia. They hoped to have a future but The Puppeteer had other plans. In order to save their lives and those of their friends, the couple take off leading their would be assassin on a merry chase. Will their plan succeed or will The Puppeteer pull the strings that terminate them or their friends?

While the overall story kept me reading, some of the repeated phrases and cliches became annoying. There were several unexpected plot twists and turns including the ending. I see there are two more books in the series waiting to be published at this time. I hope to read them in the future to find out what happens next.

Warning: This book is for Mature Audiences due to violence, adult language, and some suggestive sexual situations.

This book was very confusing not a good read at all

Well if book one is confusing, book 2 is even more confusing. I'm caught up in the parts of the story that I can figure out...otherwise I would call it quits now. Editing continues to be mediocre....sigh.
