Speak Now is the latest hit from the author of the hit Spinster Series, Becky Monson. In this Readers’ Favorite Book Award Winner (Bronze Medal) novel, Bridgette Reynolds needs to stop a wedding, but can she do it?
If there’s one thing that Bridgette Reynolds has learned recently, it’s that the perfect shoes, the perfect hair, and the perfect dress do not make for the perfect proposal. In fact, sometimes they make for the not-so-perfect breakup.
Now, Bridgette must do everything in her power to win Adam back. She knows they are meant to be. And nothing will stand in her way—not her friends, not her grandmother, not even the fact that Adam is now engaged to Serene after a whirlwind romance.
Focused on her plan to win Adam back, Bridgette isn’t expecting Ian—her college best friend, her love, her big regret—to come back into her life. They sink back into their comfortable friendship as if no time has passed at all, making Bridgette start to question her feelings for Adam. But Ian has a few secrets of his own . . . secrets that could shatter their friendship once and for all.
Bridgette has to make some major decisions—should she speak now? Or forever hold her peace?

About the author

Becky Monson is a mother of three and a wife to one but would ditch them all for Henry Cavill. She used to write at night but now she's too dang tired, so she fits in writing between driving kids around to activities and running a household. With a talent for procrastination, Becky finds if she doesn't watch herself, she can waste an entire afternoon binge-watching Netflix. She's a USA Today bestseller and an award-winning* author, and when she does actually get off Netflix to write, she uses humor and true life experiences to bring her characters to life.
Becky wishes she had a British accent and a magic spell to do her laundry. She has been trying to give up Diet Coke for the past ten years but has failed miserably.

So, who does Bridgette belong with? Adam, the perfect guy who crushes her engagement dreams early in the story, then adds insult to injury by turning around and giving a ring to another girl? Or Ian, the ex from college she has major unresolved issues with? The course of true love does not run smooth for poor Bridge as there are numerous obstacles in her path, and she has to make some really tough choices that affect the happiness of others, as well as her own.
Although there was plenty of angst in this book, there were an equal number of comedic moments that really stuck with me, most of them involving Bridgette's determination to prove that Serene (Adam's too-good-to-be-true fiancee) isn't what she appears to be. And I couldn't help but laugh every time Bridgette's fearsome German boss, Ursula, popped up on the page or was even mentioned (usually along with a Little Mermaid joke). Gram and her pithy comments were also a constant source of amusement to me.
I found Speak Now: or Forever Hold Your Peace to be a very fast-paced and entertaining read. It's definitely going on my list of Favorite Reads for the year. I loved the author's voice and appreciated how her prose flowed and kept me turning pages. A must-read for all my fellow Chick Lit lovers!
If you are more the target demographic I think you would love it too.
The book it is little predictable (as many books of this genre are) but I as like to say . . . just because you know where you are going it does not meant you can not enjoy the journey. It was a very quick read for its length (I would generally expect a book this length to take me 4 nights to read and this took me about 2 and a half). I like a good fun quick read and this certainly delivered. I have to admit I know the author a bit from Facebook but I feel this is a 100% honest review. I have really enjoyed her writing and this novel was not an exception.
If you like a good troubled chick lit romance look no further and get a copy of this very enjoyable book.
At an event Bridgette is serving, she runs into her old college flame, Ian. They left unfinished business when he asked her to go go London with him and she refused. Clearly there are feelings go to deal with, but the next event s serves is his engagement party. Clearly, he's moved on. Strike two.
While Bridgette juggles two rejections, her pals Ashley and Justin get together and become that couple who make everyone cringe at their affection. His turns their happy trio into a couple plus Bridgette as third wheel. Strike three?
It turns out that both her ex-boyfriend and her "ex-ex-boyfriend " are marrying their respective fiancees on the same day, at the same time. Knowing that her ex-boyfriend's erstwhile fiancee is cheating on him, and knowing that she still cares for Ian all these years later, Bridgette has a choice to make. Whose wedding will she stop? And what will happen go three man whose wedding she doesn't stop? Invested readers want to know!
Monson crafts a charming story that provides few surprises, but does so with such humor and tenderness that even readers who've guessed correctly won't feel superior to the characters. The scene that does the store wedding is priceless! And the finale between Bridgette and the groom-to-be whose wedding she elected not to stop is heartwarming. Highly recommended.
I will say I did laugh out loud during this book. But with the cheating (emotional and kissing those not in a serious relationship with)and swearing (a few curses each chapter) overall it's not a favorite.
The main character (Bridgette) greatly annoyed me at the beginning. But by the end she'd grown a lot and was less irritating.
I do think this book was a clever way to poke fun at some of the stereotypical soap opera plots. Book takes with flashbacks addimg send mystery. The two people texting Bridgette at once was a little hard to keep pace with while reading.
This book isn't the same caliber as the Spinster Series. I definitely recommend those books by this author (5 stars on them go get 32 going on Spinster now!!) This book isn't my favorite. I had read it two years ago and couldn't remember it that well so I gave it another try.

Perfect weekend stress buster.

After getting dressed up for dinner with her boyfriend Adam, Bridgette is shocked when rather than proposing to her he breaks up with her, she is devastated and does everything she can to win him back, even taking a work colleague to a family dinner to make him jealous, but that backfires!
Then suddenly while working at a catering event she bumps into Ian, her college friend, and her first love the one she regrets ending. They fall back into their friendship as nothing has happened, but he has a secret too.
this book keeps you interested from the start to the end with its twists and turns and some funny banter.

Sorry but this is an HONEST Review.
