The world looks very strange to me this morning. It is like I am walking through a carnival fun house, but it’s not really fun. Today is the first time I am wearing glasses, and I think I like my blurry world better. Yes, everything is clear, but I can’t get my eyebrows to go back down because it is so hard to adjust. Plus I am pretty sure I am in a weird cage. I had no clue just how bad my vision was and now I can see clearly. I feel like I took the red pill and I am out of the Matrix, or was it the blue pill? I’m not sure. I couldn’t see which one it was.

Nicole Bessam had finally found him. After long, fruitless years of searching, after countless missteps and mistakes, she had at last reunited with the man she had pledged her heart to. He was right there in front of her. But he didn’t remember her face. Commander Jon Paxton was transfixed by the woman before him. He’d had lovers in the past, certainly – women who eased his loneliness. But none had ever called to him the way Nicole did. None had ever fit into his life as neatly as a key fits into its lock. And there seemed to be so much more beneath the surface – but he just couldn’t reach it. Nicole had to move as carefully as a cat negotiating a rocky ledge high above a desolate abyss. One reckless step, one shift in the wrong direction, and the love they had shared could be forever lost.

Aquarian Awakenings is the first of four novellas in the Collective Saga series. This adventure romance is set in a sci-fi fantasy future, one where countless disparate races coexist in a tenuous truce. Only the strength of the Collective military keeps the peace and guards against invaders. These stories are presented in a gentle manner, with no explicit violence or intimacy.

THE TIME TO TELL begins in 1944. A plan is hatched inside of Germany in the pursuit of peace for a thousand years. A young boy is whisked away in the night, identifiable only by the anklet he wears on his leg and the markings he bears on his head, and with him is carried the fate of mankind. Eddie Coolidge is a disabled American veteran who is unable to provide his wife with children… until the day he finds a mysterious baby washed ashore from a shipwreck near his home. Hoping against hope that this is the child he has always wished for, he takes the baby boy home to his wife. While at first elated, they soon begin to discover clues about the child’s origin as they watch in awe as he begins to demonstrate uncanny abilities…

A taut, well-paced thriller full of intrigue and almost unbearable suspense, Wells captures your attention from the novel’s opening action sequence and never relents, always staying two steps ahead with sharp turns and surprising twists. A razor sharp ear for time and place lend authenticity, and the marvel of weaving a fictional tale infused by magical realism within true events is nothing short of astonishing.
